Ashes 2017/18

We look inacapable of scoring runs, its like we are just waiting to get out. Surely we have to find a way to score 3 or 4 an over and try and put some pressure back on the aussies. At this rate the aussies know they will bowl us out as we aren't good enough to bat that long to get the runs.
TBF Australia haven't scored at a great rate most of the time so far either. We probably aren't getting this total either way, personally I'd rather our batsmen showed a bit of discipline and made it difficult for Australia rather than gifting their wickets trying to score at 4 an over. The only thing I would say is that one of the right handers probably has to take on Lyon at some point and try to hit him off his line or preferably out of the attack.

Root is scoring nicely, just feels like Malan is a matter of time. 8 from 43 balls and offering nothing offensively and looks nervous as hell.

It's all about survival tonight then go for it first two sessions tomorrow. Those two reviews from the Aussies could play into England's hands with Lyon spinning it round corners.

Here's the danger for England - Root on 50. If he wants to make the most of his talent and be known as one of the greats then he has to score more hundreds and more match winning innings.

Root will always score at a reasonable rate. Malan does look nervous, he's just got to stay there as long as he can and hope it gets easier but I agree getting totally bogged down isn't going to help him.

It's very nice to see us making a fist of this but in the back of my mind is that absolute certainty that as soon as this starts to look doable, we will lose 7 wickets for about 30 runs.
