Ashley Young's dive is good for City

Introducing retrospective suspensions for repeat cheats like Young is the only way to stop this.
As a previous poster said this already happens in the A league. The FA could learn a lot from the ozzies. As usual they have applied a common sense approach to the problem and should be applauded for it.

Whilst I agree with much of that mate, I have a concern about WHO will ultimately make these decisions, I've just listened to/read various 'experts and pundits' claim that as there was 'contact' then it was a penalty.

If these are the people we will be relying upon to uphold the integrity of the game with such decisions then I genuinely fear for it's future, needs some straight talking and common sense applied.

They should replay all contentious decisions on the giant screens inside the stadiums (especially diving) and let the crowd decide.

I remember reading a few comments made by Villa fans on BBC 606 when Young left the club for Utd.

His diving was something he worked hard on in training, but wasn't something they'd miss. Utd get decisions because of cheats like him, not because refs are corrupt

Ashley Young, he runs free, dives around, penalty, he's a cheat, two left feet and heeeeeee's shite!

He dived...he'll be watched more closely now by defenders and refs..If I was a defender i'd give him a whack on the quiet before any nonsense kicked in...Mancini should do a Keegan on Fergie by suggesting Everton only try when they play City so Utd will most likely win their game.

When they introduce retrospective bans on top of reversing the decision it will not be as frequent as it is now.

As mentioned earlier its in vogue in the A League as is video technology in our main football code(s).

Come to think of it we have introduced plain packaging on fags which you lot in the old dart are doing soon.

Not sure why we are always one step ahead of the poms (lol).

Perhaps you are well on your way to 5 per cent unemployment , budget surplus's and 3 per cent growth on GDP.

Well maybe not (LOL).

Found this from a diving site and edited it just for Ashley.

To explain the diving scoring system, first, you have to understand the sequence of a dive. There are four basic parts to a dive:

1. Approach to the dive — the forward steps taken by a diver toward the edge of the area. This usually involves three or more steps. To start off, the diver’s starting position must be erect, with arms either straightforward, to the sides or over the head. Referees are looking for the approach to the start of the dive to be smooth and straight.

2. Take-off — just after the approach, the diver hops, or springs off the grass, taking off from one foot and landing on his face, and then departing from the insuing fracass. The take-off must clear the penalty spot by a certain safety margin.

3. Execution — the carrying out of the dive where the diver will be looking to exhibit proper technique and grace as they glide headfirst into the goalpost. Execution of the dive's components must be performed with control and held long enough for the Referee to clearly identify them.

4. Entry — the point in a dive in which the diver makes contact with the pitch. The entry can occur feet-first or head-first, with the ideal entry being with the body nearly vertically straight. The feet should be miles apart and toes pointed. The more turf divets created on entry the better.

5.And the scoring in diving works like this …
In competitive diving, points out of 10 are awarded by each of referees ( this incorporates the referee, two linesmen, the 4th official and sir Alex. In cup competition , there are seven judges ( Referee,2 linesmen,1x 4th official, sir alex, gary neville & dwight yorke who each score a dive based on the four elements of: approach, take-off, execution and face first entry into the pitch.

At other competition events ie Champions league,Europa league , it is customary to have five judges hand picked by Malcolm Glazer.
Each dive is considered without regard to the degree of difficulty of the dive. (This is taken into account later by the bent bastards at the FA).

SSN are showing a special 1 hour documentary on this next week !!

Its called "sky diving".

I was thinking this earlier. Only problem is that Moyes hates us that much it could spectacularly backfire.

I guess he could just say that he hopes they try as hard against them as they did against us. Even if Everton win 4-0 at Old Trafford I cannot imagine Moyes looking quite so elated as he did at full time at Goodison when they beat us this term. The hatred on his face was there for all to see.

Very good link....
