If you want to see seriously deprived, go to Burnley or Rochdale

Burnley on a grey day.I'd need to be on Prozac or heroin to live there.

And most of those who do are. Eccles New Road used to be far worse but it's improved quite a bit these days.

I had to hold a hankie over my nose and made the children spit once we were home on the last occasion I had the mis-fortune to travel down that particular thoroughfare

I drove down it before for the first time in a while today. Apart from a pocket of Scandinavian looking houses near the the city centre, is this the most deprived road in Britain? It truly depressed me!

As others have said... you should have seen it before they knocked down half of Openshaw.
