Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

Frustrating game to watch, partly due to sloppy passing in the first half but mainly due to the ref giving free reign to Villa, Martinez in particula, to waste huge amounts of time as well as nicking 10 - 15 from throw ins and free kicks. How the fuck only six minutes of injury time was played all game is beyond me. Five subs, two goals (it was around 90 seconds to restart after they scored) an injury to Cash which was three and half minutes alone plus the fake injury to Martinez. i reckon Martinez alone wasted around seven or eight minutes in just the second half. Weak ref who let them get away will all sorts. Sooner the game has two half’s of 35 minutes each with independent time keepers as they do in rugby the better and if a game takes two hours to finish then so be it. Pissed off with teams taking the puss and refs doing fuck all.

6 games played and that was the first disappointing result so nothing to worry about. Outplayed them for large periods and but for some missed chances we would’ve got the win. Nobody really stood out although Stonesy and Ruben were rock solid at the back. How that fuckin ref only added 4 mins in the 2nd half is a mystery.

Considering we can be quite slow starters, 14 points from 6 games is a decent haul. We’ll have a better idea where we’re at after we play our first proper opponents next weekend.

Just watch the cricket, so here is my view of the game,
pretty flat all round, sloppy passing, villa defended very well, take the point move on,

one thing I will say is Phil Foden is wasted out wide, the lad need to get on the ball and drive this team on in games like today, so would have played Foden in the gundogan role today
agree

Or he can play inthe kev role closest to haaland and drop Kev deeper and play alvarez higher and wider on theleft where he is use to playing

Was sloppy in passin today and had more than enough chances to win game was only haaland that got his efforts on target bar foden at end,
Nothin to worry about we move on

We also lost community shield and I would say Newcastle was very poor in patches. Gone from a good start to the season to average.

Agree with the sloppy passing. That’s an attitude thing. It can happen and proofs the players are human beings.

Imho we dropped two points. But we could’ve lost as well even as we were clearly the better side.

Why was Pep so full of compliments about Alvarez and than doesn’t play him when his ongoing workrate was clearly more needed to the technical skills of Mahrez?

Sidenote: Ashley Young came on and I thought: He’s yours Phil. Credit to the old rag, he got Phil. Credit where it’s due.

Friendlies don’t count.

Aspects of the performance were disappointing at Newcastle but it was still a decent result.
