Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

Villa had a perfectly good winner chalked off. We can’t be moaning about the officials today.
They didn't, it was blown for offside (wrongly by the sounds of it but still blew).

Just curious how our games seem to end early when you know who's (2 teams) play for ever.

Thought cross for the goal aside KDB was poor always looking for hero passes and shots that weren’t on.

Foden and Walker both need a rest/dropping

Oh well, at least Haaland scored again :) - and that git coutinho didn't. Mahrez has no impact , he never seems to be able to get into the game . Would have liked to see Alverez after that fantastic game in the week. Missed the chance to go top, loads of possession, some sloppy passing, not enough chances on target.
Corrected for 2022 accuracy

Both us and Liverpool will be happy to have had a poor performance without losing ground to the other.

Could be seeing the decline of our best-ever full-back, here.

Onto the next one.

As if we are the only ones that are "competing". Liverpool aren't looking like a league winning team. And unless we massively improve our away performances. Neither are we.

If we drop our standards. We'll be competing with Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea too. And the rags at a stretch.

People need to remember Alvarez didn't have friggin extended break this year, we need to be careful to manage his minute or he will get burnout. Also he playing for World Cup and seems have very important role in there so no break for him during World Cup either.
He had a break over last Winter. Argentina’s season is from February to October.

In the 2nd half, Walker was playing alot more in a back 3, so in this sense the substitution didn't change our formation.

This information actually makes alot more sense to me because it made no sense to make this sub and keep 3 defenders back as we were doing 2nd half.
I’m not sure I agree fully, but I can see that perspective as valid.

Still think bringing on Mahrez for Bernie instead of Alvarez for Foden was a very poor decision.

I am not talking about just this game though. He seems to be going through a poor run of form, for a long time. I have been one of his biggest fans but you have to say it as it is, same with Phil at the moment. And it isn't just me saying it.
You can’t talk about it being this game as he did nothing wrong.

When was the last time Ederson was at fault for a goal?

I have no idea when it was, but he committed no errors leading to goals in the whole of last season, so you’re better off starting from the season before last.

Steady on.

I don't need to be better than you to share my point of view.
Nobody is saying you have to be better than anyone else.
I'm saying your posts are ridiculous.
What part of your posts are ridiculous don't you get?

Edit.
Just read of few of your posts. Slagging Eddie off seems to be your theme in your posts.
Not a peep out of you on Wednesday when erling scored his 2nd hat trick in 4 days.
Or had that slipped your mind!

Kind of Ironic,,,,,,The best thing that could have happened today is we go in at half time 0-2 down so Pep has to change our shape and go back to what we know best and go on to win.

For Pep not losing = no changes
A consideration of the bench would suggest that, unless things were going swimmingly, we only really had two outfield options (Mahrez and Alvarez) and that the others would only be pressed into service if we were desperate.

Poor overall, foden’s form has dropped off a cliff this season, wide out left doesn’t suit him, two points dropped big time, still rather arsenal increased their lead at the top tomorrow tho :)

Anyone know why Alvarez got dropped today after his performance the other day.

Managing his minute, seems people doesn't friggin care that he didn't have extended break/holiday this year like other.

He straight up from his loan to our training camp pre season without friggin holiday, can you imagine that.

That was shocking. How long did some players want on the ball!? How the fuck foden stayed on that pitch is beyond me. There was no intent on going forwards from alot of the players tonight. Was screaming for alvarez, yet ake came on and stones went to right back...
Fully agree with the amount of time players wanted on the ball and it was generally followed by a poor pass that immediately put a team mate under pressure. There was no intensity in our play, it was very lazy and sloppy. The substitutions were strange to say the least.

Mahrez is part of the core team. So you saying I don't think Mahrez should never get on the pitch is fine to say, but ultimately crazy if you actually expect Pep to carry it out.

You should expect him to get subbed on and play games. Pep is expecting Mahrez to do something, and he played poorly.

Bernie in the middle for Gundogan is fine as well, but don't think it changes much.

We needed Alvarez on.
I don’t disagree. The issue was him getting a new contract. I don’t see how a guy who played less than half the PL games last season gets a new £200k+ pw deal. Like I said, on here there was much celebration. I didn’t understand it and I still don’t. He has to get minutes because we are paying him so fucking much.

Mahrez wasn’t the reason why we dropped points today but him being brought on certainly didn’t help.

The problem with dropping walker is it means cancelo plays on the right so they just score goals by either attacking down the right or by playing crosses to where he should be marking someone (and definitely isn't).
