Aston Villa (H) | PL | Post-match Thread

Not long back from the game, bah 8:15 kick offs! Foden MOTM performance, think he got pissed off with being hacked so give it the big fuck off, three great goals but the third was a thunder bastard! Rodri, Guardial and Rico outstanding. Doku did well ditto Ortega, I was only saying today how we started our long unbeaten run with both Haaland and KDB out, both great players but both have been leggy in recent games. Happy days.

Proof today if you still needed it:
— Phil is a number 10 par excellence.
— Wing play works.
I have harped on about Phil for nearly three years: HEY PEP, YOU STUBBORN OLD BUGGER, PLAY HIM 10.
KDB is better on the right than Phil is on the left.

Right Now Nobody is taking Phil's Foden place in the middle from him

Good response. Job done early, racked up a few goals and allowed key players rest ahead of a very quick turn around. Ideal night. Still don't think we're shooting enough, loads of opportunities to shoot first half that we are not taking and it's not one individual either it's everyone.

That was a shadow of the villa side thats put them in 4th position, probably the first time all season luck has properly fell our way in terms of coming up against an opponent who have lots of injuries.

Have to maintain it now and hope for the best.

In my opinion, yes we are. Some of the best football this season we played when he went out injured. Uncomfortable truth, maybe?
See what you mean but our Greatest ever season was built around him and his goals delivered our holy grail.

One of our best performances this season, made a good villa team look shite, obvious gulf in class. Not one bad player tonight, Rico and Father Ruben were great.
The mentality of the lads is something else, dominating the game and then conceding could’ve easily fucked is up but we never stopped, and just carried on battering them. Proper City that.

Grealish was poor
I'm genuinely surprised at this. I thought he was superb tonight and along with Foden and Rodri, he ran the show in midfield. He held the ball well, dribbled well and passed it well. Ok, he didn't score but everything else he did was exactly what Pep would ask of him.

Honestly, I'd love to hear why you think he was poor.

Honestly, that was mint tonight.

It’s amazing what toward, vertical passes can do isn’t it? They cause havoc, thread one pass through and let Foden etc. work their magic with delicate 1-2s and devastating movement.

Thing is, Haaland can do that too I think. We’ve just never seen Pep unleash those tactics with him in the side. He buries 2 of those Alvarez chances tonight I think.
