Aston Villa (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I agree, Silva in a deeper position with a bit of muscle around him, still has a lot to give.

I’m not sure Nunes is improving, certainly not to be considered a long term solution at RB.

Good on him for the goal though, you could see the players were pleased for him.
Nunes has improved as a right back....not saying he is good enough to be a long term solution and is certainly not bettter than a natural right back/defensive player but he has really stepped up considering its nowhere near his natural position.

Thought we were comfortably second best all night to be honest, Rogers has had a great season but was dealt with tonight by Gvardiaol.

Young left back kid for city looked very good, was a bit surprised grealish and foden didn't come on as I thought you lost a bit of momentum post 70 minutes but suppose pep's change won him the game.

Can't work out if we were leggy, too negative or just comfortably out footballed tonight. Probably a combination of all 3.
I was surprised by your game plan as you are a better team than what was on display tonight. Maybe one eye on the Semi. Was buzzing Mcginn didn’t start

Who knew Doku had an end product in him ! Great cross for the goal, get in City. Massive 3 points and good to see Martinez leaving with nothing after all his time wasting and trying to wind up the crowd.

Doku is better at running at the defence from deep, like from 30 yards out, rather than taking the ball out wide at the edge of the box, he's very much an old-style winger with pace and skill to beat the man and not from a standing stance

Roy Keane just said "Marcus Rashford can be unstoppable"...

Erm OK, That's why a team sitting in 14th and playing Rasmus Hojlund up front have fucked him off on loan.
Good point..
Rasmus Hojlund doesn’t even look like a footballer.. He may be the worse signing the rags have ever made, he’s definitely in the running for that honour.

Sky will be playing fish fingers hitting the post on a loop until the end of time.

We aren't anywhere near our best but you can't fault the commitment. Taking 6 points off Everton and Villa takes some doing the form they've both been in. Not played great but found a way, that's what winners do.

Watching that match on French tv tonight meant I didn’t have to listen to sky which was great. Didn’t think we created enough but surprised villa didn’t really have a go, happy to stay in shape, waste time and hope to get runners in behind. It nearly worked.

Doku’s assist was just incredible, great skill and pace and unbelievable cross with the outside of his foot. Great finish from Nunes. Happy for him, not his biggest fan, but he’s had a huge goal tonight and a brilliant assist at the weekend.

Referee was dreadful, his failure to give us a free when Rashford fouled Marmoush was ridiculous. Happy to buy Rogers dive in the second half as well. Just a useless ref

Great result and a fully deserved win and that should give us the momentum to secure a CL place. Excellent finish by Nunes and I'm really pleased for the lad. As for Villa they didn’t impress at all and I thought they would offer a lot more tonight.
