Aston Villa (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Nunes called for the ball as he made his way towards the back post, and Doku fed him! Great cross, great finish, great win!!!
It was a goal of beauty! Marvellous.

We are clearly nowhere near the level we were but that is a big win and all the players kept going. We rode our luck a bit at times, particularly in the first 20 seconds! Top 4 looks good now.

Is that 15 home wins on the bounce against Villa now?

Just watched the goal again, that was absolutely world class from Doku.
Blitzing pace, broke out of nowhere and the pass was unbelievable. I am pretty sure my Gran would have tapped it in and she passed away several years ago.

Agree about Nunes.
He’s had some brain farts here and there but so did that Walker bloke in his early years with us.
I think Pep is doing with Nunes what he did a Bayern with Kimmich; he’s identified a midfield player who can run up and down the line all day long and Nunes is now having to learn how to defend which takes time in this system. I think he has had some very strong games recently and could be an asset as a utility squad player.
Could turn out to be another Pep find.
He is useful as a squad player and agree he has done well in some games but we definitely need a right back as top priority in the summer.

Great result in the end obv but please Pep Gundo and Kev cant keep starting games , ensure top 5 then start planning for next season , Want to see more of Kush , Nico G , Bobb , Reiss and Echeverri and less of Kev , Gundo and Bernardo , this doesn't make me a moaning fucker but surely everyone can see they're not the players they we're apart from Silva today Kev and Gundo offered.us nothing
You will see more of them when they are ready. Old guard did the job today. Why are people so keen not to see these absolute legends? When they are gone they are gone. Right now they are doing fine. You perhaps missed Bernardo’s goal?

Thats why Pep has persisted with Bernardo Silva....out of all the older players he still has the most to give and while his attacking play aint what it used to be his work rate and general play is still very good.
Kovacic was also very good tonight.

Nunes is improving - can he resurrect his career with us....not as a midfielder but he is looking better and better at fullback...still making mistakes and getting sucked into challenges in the wrong areas of the pitch but has hugely improved

Nico OReilly is clearly redy to be a part of this squad.

McAtee fluffed his lines a bit tonight...given a chance in our biggest game of the season and didnt step up

Penalty - 50/50 - you see them given all the time....soft yes but so are a lot of penalties these days. The villa player plays for it but again thats pretty normal these days as well

Great win and much needed....BUT we must not get complacent...its not over yet and we hve to win all the remaining games to make sure.

Love Peps passion....shows you he is still 100% committed

Lol don’t get me wrong I’m buzzing but comparing Nunes to Kimmich is going a bit far

The Boys in Blu didn’t give in. They fought to the end. Boy did they fight to the end. Thank you City, thank you lads, thank you fans. You showed ‘em, you showed ‘em all. :-)

Especially the Villans who were not superior to us!

Especially the know nowt alleged media types. Take that you buffoons.

Especially the Specsavers needing, whistle blowing nincompoops who still don’t recognise who we are. We are MANCHESTER CITY THE BEST TEAM IN THE LAND AND ALL THE WORLD. :-) :-)

Huge three points tonight, delighted for both goal scorers as they have taken some stick recently. But let’s be honest, we all thought when the team was announced that we didn’t have the legs to control Villa’s counter attacks but the game plan was superbly executed by the team. That said I think Villa were too cautious and were happy to settle for a point. Bit like Arse were the other year instead of going for it. Nico getting better each game, Nunes is becoming more consistent although it was his error that led to the penalty. Josko is the man at the back though, makes Ruben look average. Less said about the ref the better. I reckon three more wins should get us CL for next season but Pep will want to win all four.
