Aston Villa (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Totally unexpected. Felt like that was just drifting to a 1-1 that both managers would be happy-ish with.

Then suddenly we created an overload on both wings, Doku did the best thing he's ever done in a blue shirt, and Nunes was in the right spot.

Still don't trust Nunes as a defender but I'm so glad he's had a moment like that to finally, finally wash the United game off him. So glad he can be the hero for once.
What’s an ‘overload’ …. ? These new fangle terms.

Fucking horse shit, you really believe Villa didnt want to win that tonight?
Dont forget, this was a team without Ederson, Walker, Stanes, Ake, Rodri & Haaland. No fucking wonder we weren't the city of old.

You answered your own Question ?

A weakened City team low on confidence, Villa should have thrown the kitchen sink at City tonight and go for the win
YES, I am saying Villa did not want to win, or should I say didn't want to lose ?

That is what Champions and the better teams do in this league, they don't fear losing when you need the 3 points

Thats why Pep has persisted with Bernardo Silva....out of all the older players he still has the most to give and while his attacking play aint what it used to be his work rate and general play is still very good.
Kovacic was also very good tonight.

Nunes is improving - can he resurrect his career with us....not as a midfielder but he is looking better and better at fullback...still making mistakes and getting sucked into challenges in the wrong areas of the pitch but has hugely improved

Nico OReilly is clearly redy to be a part of this squad.

McAtee fluffed his lines a bit tonight...given a chance in our biggest game of the season and didnt step up

Penalty - 50/50 - you see them given all the time....soft yes but so are a lot of penalties these days. The villa player plays for it but again thats pretty normal these days as well

Great win and much needed....BUT we must not get complacent...its not over yet and we hve to win all the remaining games to make sure.

Love Peps passion....shows you he is still 100% committed
I agree, Silva in a deeper position with a bit of muscle around him, still has a lot to give.

I’m not sure Nunes is improving, certainly not to be considered a long term solution at RB.

Good on him for the goal though, you could see the players were pleased for him.

Fair fucks to the team tonight. Even though we've picked up a bit of late I thought Villa would have too much for us and I'd have gladly taken a draw. I'm ecstatic with the win, nothing better than a last gasp winner. Although it came from the other wing did our winning goal remind anyone else of the one in our title winning game? A brilliant cross that took out all the defenders and somebody coming in at the back post. I'm pleased for Nunes as he has improved a lot and always gives 100%. Hopefully we now go on one of our famous winning runs which means we would seal a champions league place and the fa cup. Fingers crossed!

You thought Villa were poor? I thought they played very well and were extremely organised. They played with a lot of confidence and at large points felt like they were in control of the game. Tielemans was great for them and I am not sure why they took Onana off as he was causing problems for us every time we went forward.
If they say Villa were poor, it gives them a reason to say we were shit or lucky.
Think we played well and kept them quite up front. Other than the penalty and I think they may of hit the post early on ;) don't think they had many other chances.

Since we fucked him off replaced by Joe Hart. Cry baby twat…
Given was absolutely shite with us, He always reminds me of a lad that I was sat next to at a game years ago whilst Given was in nets...

The man kept shouting, Deal with it "Coke Head", Fucking hell "Coke Head" come out and collect ect...This was going on a while, I said to him laughing "Why are you calling him "Coke Head"?

He replied "Well, He fucking loves his line doesn't he".

They did look organised at the back but we played practically the whole game in front of them so we hardly pulled them around the pitch.

I thought they offered very little going forward - apart from that run from Rashford they hardly got forward in the second half and the subs didn’t really make a difference for them. Other than that big lump getting skinned for the winner that is.
If Villa have an achilles heel it's at the back even though it looks organised as you say. But they were pulled apart specifically down the flanks by PSG and some other teams in the PL this season. That's what did them tonight.
