Aston Villa (H) - Post-Match Thread

Yes he's a snidey **** with his comments and always has been doing our games. Neville let's his mask slip a lot too, though he's better than Tyler, which isn't hard. When both got a pint over them I was a little disappointed in our fans but now with hindsight they deserved every drop.
Between you and me I think he meant they won it 1-0, which they did do.

Much better performance in the first half. Got the response we were all waiting for post Pep's outstanding performance in the pre game press conference.

Thought Rodri was superb, same with Bernardo until his mistake for their goal. Grealish continues his form, and Foden finally returning is great news. Thought Dias and Laporte played well together, we didn't look as assured at the back with Dias coming off for Akanji, but second half we definitely put the cue in the rack.

Liked the formation as it got our better players on the pitch. Hoping for a back 4 of Walker, Dias, Laporte and Ake against Arsenal. Think that's our best defensive line up with Stones out.

Hope Haaland's injury isn't to major, don't think it is as he looked fine up until half time but you never know with knocks.

Onto Arsenal now, hoping we bring the intensity from the first half to their anti-Oil even though their sponsored by Emirates Stadium.
It was actually Laporte who gave Bernie a bad pass and made him rush it. It happens no biggie.Stones Laporte and Dias are gonna be needed if we want to win something this year.

First half excellent, second half more like a training exercise. Just wish we could get through a game without making a mistake that leads to a goal. But no more silly formations. Four at the back with Kyle, Ruben, Laporte and Ake. i hope Silva playing as a false 3 and or 5 was a one off never to be repeated

Anybody notice that at times the midfield were playing to a ghost in the second half? They did it at least three times (Jack from the wing as well). It's as if they hadn't quite twigged that Erling had gone off. They were playing balls in to exactly where he would have been.
Julián plays an entirely different game. He was never getting on the end of those.

Good first half but after they scored, not so reassuring. Akanji the cause of much that uncertainty at the back?
Thought Phil might have seized his chance against a fairly open Villa defence after he came on but no, kept taking the easy option. We really really need a firing Foden…
They could have had 3 in the last 15 minutes…
Great from Jack and Rodri.

I'm glad somebody's said that. That pass was never on, especially hit at that pace.
I thought Bernardo was good, i.e. his usual self. Not vintage, but always busy and tidying up. Really rate the guy.
