Aston Villa (H) - Post-Match Thread

Most teams 3/0 up at half time take their foot off the gas. Look at Tottingham in the cup :-) we had the game won and it’s all about Wednesday
First half when we were good we weren't quite as good as we could be. It still feels a few percent off but the team has set super high standards. Discounting the second half really for the reasons you state

Need a pumped up city from the off, we just about got it. crowd gave it, players gave it. Then we got comfortable and it was just a time killing exercise from then on.

Dont have anything to say about the second half, game was won no need to push any harder, not great to watch but doesn't have to be its the sensible decision.

First half we wasn't exactly fluid or playing at anywhere near our old high tempo best but it was just enough for us to show our superiority. Most pleasing for me was the desire to find Erling earlier, we didn't always play it and it didn't come off but we were at least looking for it today and that alone gve their defence something else to fear nd meant we carried a bigger threat.

Thought gundogan was instrumental in that, his third man running was outstanding and is something we desperately lack in the side with most of our forward players being static. I assumed Haaland went off for rest with the game won and alvarez needing minutes, crushing blow if he's out of the next few games.

The formation change left us living dangerously, we play that formation against arsenal we get massacred, it only wasn't an issue today because we took a 4th minute lead against a side we expected to have 80% possession. I'm trusting Pep wouldn't be so mental as to play it midweek but then he's done crazier stuff.

3 points in the bag and arsenal starting to shit themselves, good weekend. a win would be monumental midweek, a draw should favour the team infront usually but I feel its probably better for us right now, they need to win to prove they're up for a title challenge. We have to be up for this next game and if we are, I expect a result.

I agree with Pep, we looked much more like the old City in the 2nd half. Created more chances and some great one two's and triangles around the box. Probably skewed it a bit in some peoples eyes because the defence were a bit all over the place without Dias. Rodri saved us a couple of times and Grealish was magnificent.

Fucking Neville! The woman presenter advertises the "We're not really here "documentary, when we beat Gillingham and Neville quips, " They might not be in a couple of years" Micah was not amused.

Enjoyed that.
First half we were nearly back to our best.
We had energy, movement, we pressed as a team.
Second half we took our foot off, too much.
Though it’s great to see the players and the fans are up for the fight.
Dias going off I don’t think helped.
Those boo’s were the loudest I’ve heard in the ground, including the champions league.
FUCK THE PREMIER LEAGUE, FUCK THE PREMIER LEAGUE…
Let’s keep it going Blues!
