Aston Villa (H) - Post-Match Thread

Job done 1st half, up there with one of our better halves of the season.

Subs killed the momentum a bit.

Akanji hasn't impressed me, too soft in his defending.

Great 1st half, probably our best 45 minutes since pre World Cup. Not at our best but we were very fluid at times and created lots of chances. The tempo was very good and the build up play from back to midfield to the front was much slicker.

2nd half we weren't good at all though. Akanji cannot play at Arsenal, he was poor when he came on and defensively we were weak 2nd half. We have to go with Dias and Laporte to give us a leader and a passer at the back. Then it's a decision of either 3 at the back and go with Walker or Ake like how we started today or go with both with 1 midfielder less and select both.

Either way, Arsenal will be nervous on Wemdesday now. We've finally put them under some pressure and this is the time to crank it up.

Excellent 1st half, took it easy on them in the 2nd. 3pts in the bag, which is all that counts. Pep, no tinkering vs. Arsenal, please, and go with today's starting 11.
Really?

You would have nobody in a left back position against Saka?

It’s not that we had a makeshift left back, we simply didn’t bother with one.

Not sure that will be wise on wednesday

Big game Wednesday. Hopefully Haaland just a precaution, he was getting treatment on his thigh but still managed to burst of speed for the assist so we shall see.
No disrespect to Haaland but Im happy if Alvarez starts. Sometimes Haaland hardly touches the ball.
