This is not the thing we wanted to hear. You haven't won since opening day, well just turn up at The Etihad with a rag, tag and bobtail outfit and the three points are yours. We will gift wrap them in a skyblue satin box tied with a navy blue ribbon!!
Rubish we will hammer villa ... I know last night was bad but keeps things into perspective.

Villa are absolutely shit, we should be able to hammer them but at this point I'd take a scruffy 1-0 win. Actually a clean sheet in unlikely so 2-1.

Trust me, you saw us in the cup game a few weeks ago. We are truly awful, one of the worst Premier League teams ever, and the players and fans have given up.

Kelechi has to start. Hat-trick against them in the cup, he's fresh and hungry which is what we need. I'd actually play him alongside Bony and use Aguero off the bench.

Something like this would be enough to see off an awful Villa side

---------------------Hart--------------------------

Sagna---Kompany----Mangala----Clichy

-------Fernandinho----M Garcia-----------

Sterling----------- Yaya---------------- Barker

------------------Iheanacho---------------------

Give Aguero and Silva a rest as they both looked knackered last night.

looking through the remaining fixtures I had identified this game, as the one to make Aguero triple captain in my fantasy football team, but now I'm not so sure

To Aguero's credit, he looks genuinely distraught when you lose or struggle in games but watching your full backs punt the ball up field doesn't inspire confidence, nor does the lack of support your team offers Aguero. He is isolated and desperate to link up with team mates, but any chance of you lot doing me a favour and an Aguero inspired CIty thumping Villa? I may send a tweet to Aguero to say I am counting on him.

........hart
Zaba.......kompany...Mangala.....kolarov

I would choose that back five simply because we are playing the supposedly worst team in the division, and we shouldn't be caught out at the back too often, and as is likely, they park the bus, we need players who can cross a ball or a hit a set piece into the box.

......Yaya....nando/Dinho...a.garcia
Navas...................................Nacho/Sterling

That midfield should be enough,, offers width, with nacho or Sterling coming inside at times allowing overlap for kolarov. If YaYa is fit this will work a treat, freeing him from defensive responsibilities at most times (Navas and a DM can cover of he goes upfield). Would give 45mins each to nando and Dinho.

..............bony
Aguero has been off lately, and the big man could benefit from this formation as if we hit balls into the box he would tower over their defenders , and his link up could bring yaya into play further forward as happened in the first game of the season if I remember well .

I know its Villa. But Mangala?

It's not true that we don't have history. One of the historical characteristics of this club is that whatever seems to be the most obvious outcome, will not come to pass.

"Willy Catchit keeps his place in the C1Cup team, and brings off three staggering saves". Anyone see that coming?

"Michael Owen hasn't scored for X number of matches". We're next up and the fart gets a hat-trick. Villa haven't won since the Crimean War, we're next up. Cue an away banker.

A couple of seasons ago I could traipse up to The Etihad and, with a pretty high degree of certainty, forecast the outcome of the game. Not now. I just don't have the faintest idea what is going to happen, or how the players will perform, whether the ref has been recently registered blind, what Pellers will do. The number of variables that will press directly on the result are increasing geometrically!
