Lescott made a Twitter fuck up after the match posting a pic of his new car. Villa fans got pissed off thinking he wasn't arsed about just getting dicked 6-0 by Liverpool so he deleted the tweet and made probably the worst excuse ever:

Between that and the episode at Wycombe (I think) where he was involved in a chewing gum throwing contest with another player while sat on the bench, seemingly uncaring as to how the game was going, then telling travelling Villa fans to fuck off, he's not exactly endearing himself to the fans.

Had a couple of texts today from lads with contacts in the club, its a lot worse than just relegation, they are on the precipice and might be a Leeds/Portsmouth type situation, Garde is off, all the french signings too, 3 buyers have fallen through because Lerner wants too much, there will be no money for additions in the summer and the squad will be torn to shreds. The club is rotten to the core.

Feel sorry for the genuine Villa fans if that's the case. I was over for a game against them a few seasons back (the Mario hat trick game), and was talking to 3 or 4 middle aged fans (a lady and 3 fellas) in the Waldorf before the game. They were sound people. Ended up talking about that great Villa side in the early eighties (Shaw, Cowan, Mortimer, Withe etc etc).

It's crossed my mind on more than one occasion whether Lerner is in more overall financial difficulty than is immediately apparent. Wouldn't be entirely shocked if his back was against the wall. It would explain the baffling paucity of investment in the squad last summer, given the new TV deal.
