If it's only precautionary, that's fine. We have plenty of alternatives; Jovetić, Džeko, Negredo. Any two of those should be more than enough against the Villa. I reckon it will be Edin and Jojo, saving Alfie and Sergio for Bayern.

Any news on Merlin?

out as well, maybe be ready for bayern game

He shouldn't be parachuted straight back into the team. Nasri has stepped up while he has been out and should be rewarded. This is coming from someone who is not a fan of Nasri, but to be fair to the lad he has been class in recent games.

I agree on both points, JHD.

I wasn't expecting Silva to be put straight back into the team after this long out; in fact, I doubt he'll start against Bayern, but it will be good to have him back ASAP.

And yes, Nasri has been great in recent games. Long may it continue!

Silva goes straight in for me. World class opponents need world class players. Form is temporary, class is permanent.

Re: Aguero out this weekend

Jovetic & Dzeko for me this weekend.

Keep the Aguero & Negredo partnership for Bayern.

Silva on the bench, Nasri thoroughly deserves to be in the starting XI.

Whoever has the best time against Villa out of the 2 starts against Bayern.

So would you drop Nasri, who has been superb and deserves his place,or drop him at the expense of Silva coming in,because of his name ??
Not for me I`m afraid.Silva ain`t shown anything on a long term basis as being anything other than a very good player. Can you tell me the last game he had where he was world class for City ? I`m struggling, even as a massive David Silva fan.

Re: Aguero out this weekend

Well, Villa are missing Benteke! I wonder if they have Dzeko, Negredo, and Jovetic to call on. :)

I agree on Jovetic/Dzeko tomorrow and Aguero/Negredo against Bayern. Bayern will be scared of Negredo after how he made the world class Javi Martinez look second rate for his goal in the pre-season friendly.

And his fitness is questionable.

It's nothing to do with his name, its his ability. He was world class right throughout pre-season and in the Newcastle game. He doesn't have to be the best player on the park every game. With his ability he can open a defence in the blink of an eye and for that reason, if he's fit, I'd start him against bayern in a game we might not create many chances in.

If you only see him as a 'good player' I can't help you. I suspect the managers of the worlds biggest clubs would disagree if he was on the market.

As I say, class is permanent and I've seen enough of silva to know he has it in spades.
