Though I mostly disagree with Chippyboy - he's got a point in that advancement in technology is such that the need for humans to work is radically diminishing.

In 100-years time, what jobs will humans actually need to occupy?

Perhaps advanced science/mathematics? These areas have not yet yielded to computerization. But in 100 years?

And even over the next 10 to 20 years or so - it's hard for me to see where humans will be gainfully employed - outside of science/math/sports/literature - and maybe music. And the sum total of these such jobs is very much smaller than the total number of living, working age humans.

This may well represent a utopia - humans are freed from the need to work and are instead able to purse a life of leisure and enjoyment; provided that the economic benefits of computerization/robotics are shared among the general populous.

What do you not understand? AI will be capable of fully replacing anything humans do, these new jobs that will be created will eventually be taken as the AI will be capable of doing it anyway.

Says it all when Elon Musk is worried about it and he tried to convince the senate to regulate it.

Contribute yeah, but most working composers make their living from things like advertising, film scores, gaming etc - the very areas that will be easiest for AI to take over in.

There is a tipping point coming mate. some of the richest people on the planet, owning some of the biggest companies are calling for a universal basic income. Mass unemployment is coming and if nobody has any money nobody is buying. It also has a lot of cross party support in different countries. Goverments would fall with the unemployment rates coming if its not introduced. It cost companies less in tax on robots for UBI than for a workforce and their entitlements not to mention that the welfare state will be gone with a free for everyone payment. By far and away the biggest plus for UBI thoughh is that no one will be below the poverty line.

One of the cold countries did the univeral payment as a trial looked like it was working well and then just got shelves, might have been Finland can't remember.
