At what point could united...

Funny you should start this thread because I was thinking this myself today. Many demons slain this summer. I don't think the rags will ever be an irrelevance to us but I don't feel the same way towards them, just the same. It's sinking in. A summer long gloat fest is in order but next season won't be the same. They are more afraid of us than we are of them. Amazing.

Forza Bobby Manc. You are awesome. And forza the Sheikh, and forza Kun the King, and forza all if them (except Carlos, who has a long way to go).

I think the best way of dealing with United is to forget about them.

Whatever City does now is on her own terms, we make our own history now, let them fixate on us for a while.

There is no worse an insult than to be ignored.

initially i did my fair share of taking the piss, in the short term i`ve really enjoyed it, in the long term however i think to ignore them is the right thing to do, well unless they start getting cocky again

Exactly this for me! They got it both barrels but Im easing up now. Remember the 13th May was a big dose of Karma right up the arse for the dirties! Im certainly going to ignore them in the future as I don't want anything coming back at us. Our football is excellent now and this is how we need to do our talking. We did them in the FA semi, and shit em up so much this year we dissolved an 8 point lead with 6 to go. We have a new mission now....the CL! We will undoubtedly meet them along the way in a huge game and I don't want Karma biting us! show class Mancini style ;)

I can't ever seeing them not be challenging with us for titles. I think we will get the lions share, but they will always be there or thereabouts. When Fergie retires, well that will be interesting to see how they handle that. An entire empire changing hands so to speak, it is then we will see them perhaps wain a bit, but I can't ever see them being merely a mid-table club or being relegated like we were.

I bet everyone said the same about Liverpool in 80's and 90's they will always be around but Liverpool haven't won a title in 20 years.
We are too nice on here let united have 20 years of what we have had for 44 years.
Without fergie they could be another Liverpool. How he kept them in the race last season is unreal.

..become nothing more than an irrelevance to us ?

I don't, nor do i mean to get to far ahead of myself, but the though had crossed my mind.
Let's be honest, up until 2008 and the derby win at o.t. under sven and the takeover, we were really nothing more than a small thorn in their side. Now of course were the whole bloody thorn bush, drawing blood from just about everywhere possible.
I mean if Chelsea get stronger with new signings like it looks like they will, and we also add some key players in certain area's to push on again for another title, and European honours, where will united figure in things ? I just can't see them buying big and even coming close to filling the holes that Briggs and Scowls leave when they pack it in the 5 years time.
In short are united the next arsenal ? And will us and Chelsea be fighting for top spot ? I'd love to see the bugger's fade a little and start maybe struggling for a UCL spot, see fergie take them back to where they were when he started, and see how the horrids react to being average at best. It sounds bad but with the crap I've put up with for decades from their so called loyal winning fans, i wan't us to twist that blue dagger again and again like we did on the last day of the season. I want them to feel our pain, like we did for 20 yaers, but unlike our fan's i know they will never be able to cope emotionally. Am i all twisted ???? Lol. CTIDAB.

They are unlikely to become an 'irrelevance' to us in the foreseeable future , and certainly not whilst Fergies still there ....

the rags will be there or thereabouts again next season , you can bank on it , and i've a feeling that this japanese lad they've signed will turn out to be a great buy for them ...... but it's up to us to defend our crown in such a fashion that United , and the others , struggle to match

we have won two trophies in two seasons , we need to keep it going ... with it will come prestige , greater income , and club growth.

I don't buy the claims that United performed poorly last season ......

they won as many league games as we did , and scored almost as many goals as us ...... with only a handful of games remaining they'd 'whittled away' our goal difference at one point ....... and in truth they haven't won many more league games during ANY of their previous title successes.

United performed extremely on the consistency front , as it turned out ....... the difference bein' that THIS time City excelled themselves , instead of simply just 'falling away'!

They just need to get rid of the Glazers and start to spend some money and they will be a formidable force..I can´t see them go away, ever

Might sound odd but I´m not sure I want them to.
