I would take a draw and no injuries
They did ask, straight after the whistle, what do you think city would make of this? They all answered that they'd be delighted as Real Madrid were not good.Watched the RM/Chelsea game - cracking, classic match. However, post match disgraceful BT eulogising about the possibility of RM going on and winning the thing, as though the other semi final opponents (and I'm making no predictions) don't matter. This would not happen to any other Prem club in the Ch L - it could only happen to us. No City pundit to do a Mike Summerbee, rein in Rio and remind all around him that there is another show in town called Manchester City FC.
I think the team will be almost Identical to the one which started last week. Fairly certain Gundog and Mahrez will be in and Jack and Phil on the bench again ready for second half action.I’m not sure about Grealish starting tonight.
In the EFL Cup final a couple of years ago, Fernandinho and Walker spent the entire game shithousing him, and he spent most of his time punching and slapping the floor and moaning at the ref. And he did next to nothing with the ball as we affected his game too much.
I don’t think he’s been here long enough to trust that he won’t get wound up by Atléti and it affect his game tonight. Not from the start anyway.
I’d definitely bring him on though, similar to last week.
The people who have been writing Kev off all season are being made to look sillier by the week
If we are going to rest anybody then it will be in the FAC semi, imoTough decisions for Pep tonight.
I reckon Ake comes in for Cancelo who must need a rest?
Rodri has played every game recently too.
Our full-strength team would be:
Ederson
Walker
Stones
Laporte
Cancelo
Rodri
Silva
Gundog
Mahrez
KDB
Foden
But I can see him starting with something like:
Cancelo > Ake
Rodri > Fernandinho
Silva > Grealish (and move KDB back)
It was a decision by CAS, they still have credit in the bank as far as I’m concernedSpineless bastards
Never, ever, ever leave Kev out of a big game. Thought this nonsense had been put to bed over recent weeks. (Just my opinion of course, everyone is entitled to hold a different view).Unless he plays upfront, I would start this game without Kev. AM will play another version of the turtle formation, so I would go with Gundo-Rodri-Bernardo in the MF. Gundo has the best movement getting into spaces behind the lines. Just my opinion.
I’m fine with that, but I also thought when coming on last week and playing to the right he was fantastic, I see him more as a 10 when we have a 9, hopefully feeding Alfie’s lad next seasonJust let phil foden play down the middle and control the game. the lad is ready for standing on the shoulders of giants. i feel he is being wasted out wide or playing the false 9 ? give him the david silva role and watch them panic
