Fucking right up for this.
Remember being at reading away midweek and getting beat 4-0, who could have dreamed we would be in such a big game as this with a decent chance of getting through!

I’m not sure about Grealish starting tonight.

In the EFL Cup final a couple of years ago, Fernandinho and Walker spent the entire game shithousing him, and he spent most of his time punching and slapping the floor and moaning at the ref. And he did next to nothing with the ball as we affected his game too much.

I don’t think he’s been here long enough to trust that he won’t get wound up by Atléti and it affect his game tonight. Not from the start anyway.

I’d definitely bring him on though, similar to last week.

When I listen to Pep, he fills me with pride - his admiration for players, his relentlessness in the way we play, and all of the players understanding of the approach.
 
Hopefully we can get the first goal tonight, just to quieten the crowd. I can see them, if it gets to the final 30 mins and they are behind trying to kick fuck out of us. If we can get 2 ahead then would be the time to bring off Kev before they assault him. I would definitely start Jack as can see a sending off in the making - they have previous and if they go a man down they will lose their heads even more.

Worth noting that this stat is just Daily Fail BS. They were literally down 1-0 last season in the CL against Chelsea in the first leg and got eliminated... They've been 1-0 down on two other occasions and managed to pull those back, but it's hardly a "stat" worth mentioning or fearing.

Still, not expecting an easy game tonight. They'll do their usual tricks and could get lucky and catch us on the break. I'd love to see Jack start and spend 90 minutes riling them up. If we get one sent off it'll be as good as a goal.

They did ask, straight after the whistle, what do you think city would make of this? They all answered that they'd be delighted as Real Madrid were not good.

I think the team will be almost Identical to the one which started last week. Fairly certain Gundog and Mahrez will be in and Jack and Phil on the bench again ready for second half action.

Never, ever, ever leave Kev out of a big game. Thought this nonsense had been put to bed over recent weeks. (Just my opinion of course, everyone is entitled to hold a different view).

I’m fine with that, but I also thought when coming on last week and playing to the right he was fantastic, I see him more as a 10 when we have a 9, hopefully feeding Alfie’s lad next season
