Atletico (H) | CL QF 1st Leg | Post Match Thread

Horrible cunts

thought Ake was good and Foden was brilliant

Also shout out to the ball boys, clearly been told to keep the ball in play as much as possible and constantly had a ball in their hands to switch every time one went out of play

The only player on the pitch whose average position was in City's half was Ederson. A very tough opponent to break down so we were never going to score many. Our delivery into the box should have been better but patience is a virtue and Kev and Phil are world class. Phil's assist was pure croquet.

Great result in the end, puts a totally different slant on how atleti will have to play in the second leg, and that should suit us. Just beware their desperate anti football antics though.

Our play was just a bit below par overall with slack passes etc, am hoping its because smashing the dippers on sunday is on the players minds.........would certainly round the week off nicely.

Not read all the pages so don’t know if it was mentioned but kicked off on Bradford road before the game stuck in traffic for ages, coppers everywhere

Thought RayDildo and lads lacked penetration!

Seriously though team of our Rodri and Don Sergio absolute bunch of cheating diving wankers.

We pretty much controlled the game but when they've got a minimum of 8 behind the ball, it's fcking hard work. Ake and Laporte very composed, forwards and midfield struggling a bit. Kev's quality shines through. Thought Phil and Jack were superb when they came on. Gabby misses the 2nd leg cos the ref is either incompetent or corrupt.

We'll raise the roof against the bottlers on Sunday, win convincingly then run these ragged in Spain.

Main take aways from the game :

Atletico are exactly as expected, a team full of shit houses who think they will only win by trying to draw us into a fight. Summed up perfectly by Kondogbia, all six foot odd of him, clutching his face when touched on the shoulder and Vrsaljko pulling Jack's hair.

Foden has become what we all knew he would, a game changer and the directness he gave from the right wing was sublime as was Kev's finish.

Jack did really well not reacting to their antics and actually wound them up perfectly.

Kyle will be a big bonus in the second leg because all they have is quick counters and Kyle has more pace than their forwards. The importance of having this lead cannot be over stated.

Riyad needs to get the whole WC qualification thing out of his system - he was so passive and for me I would play Raheem on the right in the second leg. I think we need players who can go past a defence that play so deep and with such numbers back.

Ake is now definitely a good third centre back option, getting better & better.

Finally Simeone is and always has been a twat.

Onto the big one on Sunday - I fully expect our little Scouse hater - Bernardo to have a wonder game. It will be interesting to see Pep's lineup.
