Atletico Madrid | Friendly (N) | Post Match Thread

This place is a fecking mad house.

I'd be most interested to know how many on here are season ticket holders or regular attendees at The Etihad.

The lack of knowledge of the basics of the game & MO of the club is embarrassing and almost equal to the mental gymnastics & high wire emotions on display.

I suggest that the thread is split into two.

Thread 1 for those six of use that do know what we're talking aboot.

Thread 2 for the imbeciles.

Hear to help as always.
We agree on this ;)

To those being overly-critical, keep in mind the conditions over there. High temperature, high humidity, soaked pitch. It's difficult to take a walk in those conditions, let alone play a high-tempo match against a tough and determined opposition. Most of our players will not be even close to acclimatised for that, though it certainly provides for a demanding workout and an opportunity to build up stamina. Our players will look much closer to what we expect when back to our wonderful British Summer! Those young academy lads have probably never played in heat and humidity anything like that.

Not easy for AM players either, of course, though they do get their share of searing temperatures in Spain.
Yeah…..we’ll turn it around in the second leg :)

Good workout overall. Literally made the comment in the pre-match thread about us looking extremely thin in attack even with a full squad, the second half showed that to be very much true.

Gomez, mcatee and Bobb behind alvarez is simply not currently anywhere near good enough for our level. Good enough for one or two to make 5-10 appearances seeing out routine wins and in early cup games, sure, but not as our only options from the bench. the myth of our squad depth was well and truly exposed there.

Plenty of work to be done on and off the pitch with the season fast approaching. Would have been nice to finally have a proper pre-season and hit the ground running for probably the first time in half a decade if not longer, but we're used to slow starts by now so if it happens again it's nothing new.

Get them all home now and pep gets a good week oe so on the pitch with them to drill into players exactly what he needs, would be good if we could get 1 or 2 in asap to be involved with that.

Of the youngsters only perrone and palmer is ready for the first team. everyone else needs to go on loan. and so our clueless board should pull their fingers out of their ass and start behaving like a big club and buy the necessary players.
Ffs you got 2 likes for that pile of shit…
