Goals win games -

Replacing the goal contributions by Gundog and Mahrez will be a big challenge. None of their likely replacements have their scoring record.

Additionally, many of their goals were match turning, decisive or winners in tight games. Priceless.

Furthermore, both were regular creators of goals for others.

25 goals and 25 goal creations will take some replacing....time for Jack and Phil to step up.
I'm sure they will! Hopefully the finishing will improve. Couldn't see where the goalie was fouled for Rodri's goal, he just seemed to flop on the floor and ref obliges.

But we have two strong elevens don't we mate, full of internationals, don't we?. It's what I keep hearing from clowns in the media and the red shirt fans
I know, so boring isn’t it. I don’t think our 2nd eleven is poor, they’re just not at the required levels just yet. Bobb, Lewis, McAtee, Gomez, Palmer are good young players, but it will be a long time before they all play together competitively. I expect a strong team and a good response next Sunday.

What worries me most about Phillips is his lack of positional awareness. He seems to take up the wrong positions in midfield to receive the ball. For top players that is an instinctive skill. I notice on a couple of occasions he ran towards defenders into tighter space. I think he is out of his depth. I know he can pass the ball but that's not enough.
On a similar theme was he n the picture for their second, I'd kinda expect the dm to be putting in the last ditch stuff but we just looked wide open.

Grealish isnt much of a scoring threat but Foden is, we will need Grealish especially to step it up this season

He gave the ball away after a poor pass by Dias in the build-up. Then he failed to get back quickly so he was partially to blame. It was a poor pass by Dias but I though Phillips was slow to react. He often seems flatfooted and not ready to receive the ball. To be fair Dias had a stinker in the second half.

why the fuck is pep playing macatee? it is clear he is not good enough. playing him over perrone who has shown great potential is abysmal.
How is he playing him over Perrone.
These are only friendly warm up matches
The probability is that neither will be getting much game time.

Phillips coping shit, is fair enough but Gomez should not be in the premier league never mind at City, Lewis is not a RB FFS, AM all day Gundo role but not ready yet, the rest of the kids are not ready and should be loaned out or sold.
Lewis not quick enough nor strong enough to play there for me. He is a midfielder, like a young Veratti
