Atmosphere 2024/25

Now can it be the higher up’s fault that people that buy tickets in a standing ,singing block would rather stay in the concourse when the games starting. Atmospheres in a concourses, stupidest thing ever.
Is it a designated singing block though? We all perceive it to be, and I know 1894 have the majority of their presence in there, but are the club truly on board with it?
If it’s a designated singing section then it needs to be handed over to a supporters group, so they can set rules such as being in your seat when the players come out and after full time, no pointing phones at the pitch, expect to sing constantly, no complaining about displays blocking your view etc etc. this needs stipulating by the club when they’re selling tickets in there.
They also need to facilitate it with reasonable ticket prices, enough standing to meet demand, not putting executive seats or GA+ or whatever you want to call it at the front. Will they do these things? I don’t think so.

I do agree with you though that the attitude amongst a lot of our support is, I pay my money I’ll do what I want, if that means standing in the concourse while the game is on or leaving early then that’s what I’ll do.

p.s. I like a concourse singsong, it gets the adrenaline flowing, I just think it should spill out into the stands when the players are on the pitch.

How's the self flagelation going?
Everything being flung at us is the same at every single ground in the country. Time some grew a thicker skin ...or actually grew up.
Or let people discuss atmosphere at the football when football is 50% what goes on on the pitch, 50% what goes on in the stands and a great many people want a better atmosphere than is dished up.

During lockdowns when fans weren’t allowed into stadiums, football was fucking dire to watch and it was shown up a bit as a bit of a shit sport when it was just about what goes on on that strip of grass.

When fans weren’t in the stadiums, I only bothered watching City. When, usually, if football was on I’d watch it whether it was the Premier League, Championship, a good Leagie 1 game, Spain, Germany, Italy, Champions League or a good Europa League game… because it felt pointless without the fans there.

The fans and the atmosphere they create makes football a better sport.

Being in a stadium when there’s a good atmosphere to join in with, is a much better experience and more enjoyable than when the atmosphere is shite, whether it’s 0-0, 2-2, 4-0 or 0-4…

Every single ground is the same.

Yesterday it was a training match for 80 minutes with saints just protecting their goal difference. Last 10 minutes we saw a game of football.

One thing that would help the atmosphere is being able to be with your mates.
We have 6 matches booked this season and only one game we are in pairs all the rest we are stood on our own.
I was in 119 my lad was 2 or 3 rows down to my righ and our mates were spread around 119.
We like to sing but everyone around us was chatting and I felt abut of a dick singing on my own.
If we can't get tickets together next season I might knock it on the head.

Saw a young bloke come out of the souvenir shop wearing a spuds top and than put the new City shirt just bought over the spuds shirt.

I'm FOC what's that all about ? He is probably sat with all his mates yet I can't even sit with my lad this season

The first instruction to any team visiting any club with an intimidating crowd is to damp down the atmosphere by defending well and controlling the game as much as possible. It's what every team does when they come to the Etihad, Even Real Madrid did it last season and some fans gave the team stick for not approaching the game as we did in the 4-0.

It had fuck all to do with our approach and everything to do with the opposition approach. When the second best team in Europe comes to defend and hit on the break, it's no wonder the likes of Southampton and Arsenal do it. It's also no wonder they succeed in making the atmosphere flat, it's intentional and, from our perspective, largely unavoidable in my opinion. Unless, of course, you want the capo, drums etc. I which case, it becomes about the fans, not the team. All we can do is keep winning.

Seriously what more can the club do ? Get the stewards to drag them off the concourse ? Just accept that a lot of our fans couldn't give a shit about singing/atmosphere, its up to the fans to sort that not the club

I can top the Spurs shirt mate. At halftime we were stood near the women’s toilets in CBL3, a mum came and left her young son, about 6 or 7, near us whilst she went to the loo. This lad had a rag cap on, a rag shirt, and rag shorts over his tracksuit bottoms! What was she thinking bringing him to a City game like that?

There is plenty they could do, I also do agree with you that there is a lot that supporters themselves could do, and some people really need to look in the mirror with regards shit atmospheres. This is a two way street.

Shouldn’t be allowed in the stadium.

There should be a rule brought in that people are made very aware of when purchasing tickets that there a ban on other club colours of any kind - shirts shorts socks scarves coats flags etc. - in the home sections of the stadium, otherwise entry will be refused.

The piss taking **** of a Mother doing that.
