Atmosphere 2024/25

Aware of all this chief. The point is there's a few who are requesting us to get behind the team, which most of us do anyway, as if it's going to determine the result. If only it was that easy.
No one is suggesting the atmosphere determines the result. What people are suggesting, is that a loud and intimidating atmosphere can give the home team and advantage, and the data backs that up.

Seeing as we're having Breakout Spaces and a Prayer Room, how about catering for Kippax veterans? Basically, a turnstile enabling you to turn up, pissed, at ten to three and pay on the door.
I posted this on the new North Stand thread. It was a gag. However, it was true. That's how the best atmospheres were created at Maine Road. You knew exactly where to go, on the Kippax, if you wanted to be rowdy and sing. And it was easy to do. It was spontaneous and could be edgy. Think the 5-1 v Charlton. Bedlam. Absolutely f***ing brilliant. Now, everything is complicated and sanitised. It requires organising, booking in advance lol. We can't even agree where it should be based. Season ticket holders don't want to move to accommodate it (fair enough). Etc etc. Don't think it'll happen. The opportunity was missed when we first moved.

How do you know? For all you know if we'd been away from home we would've performed even worse!

I don't really get this stance you have that atmosphere doesn't affect the game, because that goes against all the stats and everything players and former players have said.

Go online and have a look at our head to head results with Liverpool for both home and away games over the last decade. See if you notice any pattern?
Is atmosphere the determining factor of winning or losing a game? Yes or no. My point is for some of the rabble rousers who seem to think it is, telling us to get behind the team when most of us already have done and will continue to do so.

The club has sold its soul , the days of having an intimidating atmosphere have gone .

I don’t think there has ever been more Tourists in the ground than against Madrid 4-0, but it was our greatest atmosphere at the Etihad.

The difference is every proper blue contributed to the atmosphere. Even Madrid said they’d not encountered a more hostile ground in years. It’s still possible.

Rabble rousers!?

That’s a new one to call fans who want to try and improve the atmosphere.

Lol!

Deary me.

If most of us got behind the team, and have and will continue to do so, as you say, there would be a constant and better atmosphere at the Etihad, which there isn’t.

Let’s hear what ‘most of us’ is like against Everton on Boxing Day.

Determining, no. Contributing, yes.

The best atmosphere home and away every season is the City-Liverpool rivalry.

Both teams have only won one game at each other’s stadium in Pep’s time at the club. We always shit ourselves at the Anfield atmosphere, our one win came when there were no fans. Alexander-Arnold has recently said Liverpool always feel the atmosphere at the Etihad and their one win came in a game they were already 3-0 up on aggregate when we were pushing for goals to get back into the tie.

Outside those two games neither City or Liverpool have won at each others grounds in 9 games each.

But how is that possible with thr accoustics in our ground? I'm told repeatedly on this forum it's not possible to generate a good atmosphere due to the configuration of the stadium

Not that it’s not possible. Just that it’s a hindrance.

This has been done to death mate, no one is suggesting it's impossible to have a good atmosphere at the Etihad, but that if the acoustics were better it could improve.

Anyone who was at Anfield the other week will have seen how easily songs can be heard and then travel around their entire ground, whereas I can hardly hear SS1 from where I sit.

The atmosphere was great beforehand, credit to the club for listening to the fans and turning the PA off, and it started off well when the game started, but as is always the case it ebbs and flows with the game and the game was flat. Up in SSL3 we got completely on top of United’s supporters to the point we were singing you’re support is fucking shit, how often do you hear home fans sing that to away supporters.

Had we been up and at them and genuinely looked like getting that second goal it would have taken off around the stadium, but as it transpired I think people were nervously counting down to full time.
