Atmosphere 2024/25

Yes the tourists were everywhere last night but absolute thousands of blues refused to get behind the team.

Of the fans near me in 315 around 50 fans were chanting and singing. The same silent, blank faces of proper Maine Road blues.

Still, it’s easier to complain about the tourists than actually sing. Oh and half and half scarfs, light show, blah, blah, bore, bore.

If we reduce ticket prices for Plymouth, we'll have loads of families with kids, like we did against Brugge. They won't sing because 115 won't show. But you won't say its tourists will you? But atmosphere wise it will be the exact same problem.

The bollocks we had last night is what the fan groups should have collectively wrote to the club about , not trying to ensure their season ticker holding members don't end up paying more next year.

Seriously what the fuck is going on at our club? Surely now real City fans stand up and say enough is enough? No, I’m not talking about Pep or the players but the board & directors who run our club. Sorinao, Khaldoon, Tarré etc.

Last night was an absolute disgrace, yet again.

Madrid fans getting haircuts in the home end?

Not one person celebrating our second in CB Level 1?

More tourists than Disney Land?

Atmosphere flatter than a pancake for a huge game we would dream of not too many years ago?

If this is the “price of success” then I simply don’t want it. It’s clear the club don’t give a fuck - they rub our faces in it in fact. They give away tickets to Madrid fans for Liverpool Away, state “1% of City fans come from Manchester”, cease selling Season Tickets to true fans in favour of tourist packages, and I could go on. We are ridiculed all across the country and there is little pressure or outrage from our organised fan groups and representatives.

1894 Group - too busy organising shite banners attempting cheap jibes at 13 x winners, and a team that beat us a lot more than we beat them. United/Scouse behaviour if you ask me.

City Matters - token gesture de-facto group with no voice on any of the real issues.

How much longer do us local City fans put up with this shite? We need to come together and make a stand against this as our identity is being stolen right before our eyes.
Unfortunately it’s too late , it’s not just happening at City either . I feel no emotional attachment anymore to this version of City .

That City can get new fans into the ground should be a plus. Only City have messed it up because they priced that hard core out and now the new fans are being resented. 95% of regulars sit in silence anyway...as is their right. I don't sing anywhere near as much as I used to and now I sit. It's called getting old.

The ticket prices erode City's traditional support. I think City just see the full stadium and are not aware of the changes. And don't care. It bothers me that old school City are dropping out because when they do, the character of City will change. When I was little, I copied the older ones on the Kippax. Who will the 'tourists' copy?

Will those families celebrate opposition winners, or hold signs up for oppo players, cut their child’s hair, or stand mob handed filming the game ? If so then they’ll be part of the problem. My guess is they won’t behave like that, they will respect our club, they will get to know it, come back again when the opportunity arises and not disappear till the next big CL game

Several good points made, but pinning blame on 1894 is a shocking take.

You complain about the loss of identity, which I agree with, but 1894 are trying their level best to swim against the tide in a coordinated attempt to salvage what’s left of our original identity.

They try different things. If they split opinion that’s fine, but the key word is ‘try’.

The club are operating on a sole mandate of matchday revenue, not bothered who is sitting in the seat.

An easy insight on their opinion of fans is they've not fixed a toilet lock since Feyenoord despite multiple reports. I'm sure a lot of us have a moment where it became clear the club had changed, mine was the 2023 CL final - that was when I walked away from buying a CL ticket again after attending nearly every home fixture we've played.

They won't sell another season ticket, preferring the 'flexi' model to preserve a chance of gouging the seat close to matchday. This is line with other PL clubs - it's becoming an entertainment product more than a sporting one.

It may well come down to organised boycotts across fan groups from multiple clubs to do anything.

Clearly unable to read then. I asked where is the pressure/outrage from our fan group and representatives around the points I mentioned. Obviously, City fan groups are not to blame?

If I was a spokesperson of said groups I'd of focused my energy on addressing the sad state of affairs within the club with a statement or action, not spending time and money on a shit banner which was always going to blow up in our face - almost as if they've not watched City play this season...

No chance any Liverpool or United fan groups let this shit fly on the regular like us.

Those groups are doing all they can. At the end of the day, Soriano doesn't give a fuck.

Blaming "the club" or Soriano for an influx of tourists is ridiculous.

They are there because our local/regular fans didn't buy tickets. It's that simple. The club operate a reducing sales criteria method so the long serving fans get first dibs.

I can read, thanks. No need for that really.

In your heart of hearts do you honestly think the banner influenced the result? Or are you worried about being mocked on social media by dippers and rags?

I still like the banner. Taking the piss out of grown men who behaved like spoilt children is not ‘small time’ , it’s funny because it’s so obvious it was unsporting behaviour. They won the game but I hope at least some of them are embarrassed by the club boycott.

Last 5 minutes 30-40 Real Madrid fans celebrated wildly in 305 (central tier at back of the East stand). They were everywhere last night. It always happens when we play Barcelona and Real Madrid. Their end is half empty but some of their fans get into home areas. It happens more than ever now because City's seasoncard holders don't by and large go.

City's Ticket Office need to take note because there is nothing worse than being sat amongst away fans celebrating. The damage is done. But they can reduce further damage by lowering prices.
And who will get the punishment if a brawl brakes out ? Obviously the City fans involved in it, probably be banned. It's a hard pill to swallow when opposition fans sat inches away, are rubbing your nose in it. It's something directors and such wouldn't understand. It would be absolute chaos if this happened in premier league games.
My scrapping days are over but I would definitely be throwing some verbal's !!!!

Yeah, I do think some of the "club should do something" chatter a bit much sometimes. What should they do? Only sell to people with a Manchester postcode? Personally quiz people coming in about whether they were at York away? I think there's a decent conversation to be had about pricing, but I also think a core of our support won't come to CL games. We can either close off the third tier as we did pre-Pep or we can sell those tickets to people want want them. I do think stewards need to be a bit more assertive (and were last night), but there's no easy fix to this

What exactly are you doing about all these issues?… other than whinging about the fans who are being proactive.

The fan groups literally went for Khaldoon last week. Was all over the media. You must have missed it.

You’re coming across as a bit of a whopper to be honest.
