Atmosphere 2024/25

Genuine question. I stopped going a couple of years ago. Gave up 2 season tickets for multiple reasons. We were in SS3 and even there got tired of being the only ones shouting, singing unless it was a big game and a few would join in. The worst part was people turning around and giving us 'the look' like you get when you make noise in a library.

We weren't on the cup scheme so for the cup games we used to pick different parts of the ground to see if we could find a good atmosphere and it was even worse. Even our couple of games in SS1, the singing was sporadic and spread too thinly. All of CB was like the main stand at Maine Road except on one occasion a woman was knitting in front of us.

East Stand was like going to Burnley and Family Stand was like Platt Lane on valium except for loads of kids in different team's kits. What is it like now?

As a rule, pretty shit bar the odd decent atmosphere.

It is getting worse every season.

You aren't missing much on the terraces. (or on the pitch this season)

Well done Lukas from 1894 on Talk Sport today, this is on the back of this video

How many more headlines does the club need to see that something is wrong with the ticketing and stadium atmosphere at the ground?

Khaldoon whoever is responsible is undoing all the amazing work that you have done since you took over the club

All these headlines are about the stadium, prices, and who is responsible. someone must be responsible for this, as far as I can see these people are driving people away from the club.

Pep and the team try their best on the field but the stadium is a major issue regarding the atmosphere and ticketing this is a fundamental issue for the club as the team needs a 12-man.

With the plans for the North Stand everyone was excited at the plans only to be let down by the club trying to force 600GA+ seats into the new North Stand.

The new North Stand should be a vocal home end our answer to the Yellow Wall and the Kop but it seems that the club is going in the opposite direction compared to other teams who are building new stadiums or new stands.

The amazing Alex Howell tries his best but all he is getting back are corporate PR answers. There needs to be a meeting with Khaldoon now, as the issue is not going to go away and as we saw on Sunday someone will get seriously injured.

If this is how the club is making profits by reselling tickets on these resell websites then this needs to stop also and a better ticketing system needs to come in

They are having the same away people we are. Loads of Liverpool tourists getting away tickets. It certainly wasn’t the usual Liverpool away end. Saying that, they were shit last season as well.
It's a really interesting point you make about them being "Liverpool Tourists", because I've noticed that on my last few trips to Anfield.

Whilst they've got loads of tourists, they're all Liverpool fans and are there to support Liverpool. Whereas our tourists often seem like Neutrals at best.

Spent half an hour on Saturday singing, “Always the victims, it’s never your fault” to Salford RL. Couldn’t sing the same words to Liverpool LFC as it would have cost me my season card. It’s about stereotypes reflecting the clubs’ behaviour and nothing to do with tragedies. Salford not offended btw

Is Alex under 25? He has maturity beyond his years and is the only City Matters rep I have ever heard anything constructive from

Well the Jumper is coming along nicely, I believe it's just the cuffs that need finishing. Let me know when you are planning on returning and we can see if it's ready for you :)

Worse if anything but probably because we drew or lost many of the big games that would be noisy in the past. The South Stand gets lively when we win games e.g., Chelsea but it's pretty quiet for most games. I am in the Cup Schemes so we stay fixed in our seats. For a Cup game a different crowd turns up. Many more locals. Families or new fans but they don't sing.

The Spurs atmosphere last night was horrendous. Actually quite sad to see

I've been going to football since the mid-70s. I used to go home and away but now I just go to the Etihad North and South. Maine Rd and away games was always the same people. Every year the crowd would get a little older. Then came the new ground and that reinvigorated City for a while, and then we got a new injection of hope with the takeover. That was fantastic but for a while now City have frozen the seasoncards and their prices have gone up, and match-day tickets have gone up. My seat on a match-day might cost £73. That's ridiculous. The result is that in Cup games, few seasoncard holders go to the games. In the last couple of years, City seem to have attracted a lot of new fans but some fans call them tourists. The irony is that on a Champions League night, those fans are more Mancunian than they are. It's much better to be positive and create a vibrant City end so that anyone new gets caught up in that.

There's a plus in there because around the hard core is a whole new fanbase. But the old one, squeezed by prices, are grumbling about the new fans, when they should stick to tackling the prices.
Mostly agree that glory supporters and rival fans in the stands are a symptom of the cause, which is high ticket prices.

However, the club selling tickets on 3rd party sites, not releasing new season tickets for years and years, making it more difficult to transfer a ticket so they can sell it for a profit etc are all also contributing factors.

On a Cup game there are a lot of new fans. I know what you mean by glory supporters. They wouldn't be here if City had been struggling but I remember when I first started supporting City, Tony Book's side were challenging Liverpool for the title.

I agree with your point about City using 3rd party sites to sell tickets. Upgrade the City ticket operation and bring it all in-house.
