Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

There’s nothing stopping the formation of an 1880 Group for atmosphere in the North Stand.
I know you were only saying this as a hypothetical example, but 1880 has no relevance to Manchester City Football Club.

The St Mark’s>Gorton>Ardwick clubs were not forerunners to Manchester City, they just happened to have people involved in each of them who formed Manchester City. City were not a continuation of those others just with a name change, we were a new club founded from scratch… Ardwick even played two matches after City were formed.

And, even then, nobody has any evidence that St Mark’s were formed in 1880. 1880 is just the earliest evidence available of a St Mark’s game.

There’s more evidence than for the rags claiming 1878 lol.

Newton Heath were founded by Scouser, Frederick Attock, in 1878 when the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company allowed its workers to form a club in their name. NHLYR were a forerunner club to United who just had a name change to United in 1902 because they were only getting 400 fans attending Bank Street for games and were about to go bust so Stafford and Davies put money into them to save them and thought the name change would drive more interest in the club.

But that club with ‘Yorkshire’ in its name, founded by a Scouser, were formed in 1878.

City were formed as a new club in 1894.

I know this has nothing to do with the atmosphere thread, as such, but thought it should be pointed out in case anyone did think of creating an 1880 group. 1880 is not a City year, and City were not St Mark’s, Gorton or Ardwick previous to being formed.

@M18CTID & @Tim of the Oak, Thanks for the reply. This has already happened, but the thread where removed twice by the admins on the forum.

For this to work, it needs to be allowed to happen -this is why I put this at the end of my post

Can we set another thread on here called either The 9320 or We Are The North Stand, and it will not be removed or complained about

This is the only way that is going to move on

IF the fans who want to be vocal don't take the opportunity to move to the new stand, we can kiss goodbye to an opportunity that will never be available again.

It never becomes more clear than in the cup games of what we could have.

We only have to look at Newcastle. Away fans in the top tier of one end. And at the other end they have their vocal Gallowgate end so they don't get drowned out.

We have that opportunity now. Stop the infighting or lose this opportunity forever.

Was surprised by how many teeny tiny kids were in safe standing yesterday. Anyone else feel uncomfortable blocking the view for people behind? A few reshuffles helped stop a few kids missing out.

The ones at the back of 011 and 010 kept shouting "6-7", perhaps predicting a high score game?

Those who turned on phone lights should receive a warning.

Big gate for a cup game. Deserves similar pricing at the next possible instance.

Exeter had an atmosphere for all of about 10 minutes (if you call the standard boring "football in a library", "your support is fucking shit" chants an atmosphere).

Silent for the rest of the game until they scored.

I sit in the CB/South Stand corner and barely heard the bay across from me.

That would make sense if either section actually made any noise, you are deluded if you think any away fans come away from the Etihad feeling intimidated.

Of course SSL1 and the Kippax Corner make noise. Don’t be stupid. I really do give up sometimes on this thread. People really have convinced themselves that the singing sections don’t actually sing anymore, make noise, and create an atmosphere.

I’ve seen plenty of videos on Youtube filmed from the away end by away fans showing the singing, noise, and atmosphere coming from SSL1 and the Kippax Corner. I’ve posted some of the videos on this thread.

I also seen with my own eyes on plenty of occasions from Block 115 away fans stood in total silence, looking around. (in awe) at the support, noise and singing coming from SSL1 and the Kippax Corner. (as well as the other tiers overlooking the SSL1 away end for the big matches)

I’ve been to Newcastle on plenty of occasions when City have won, and it is no different to the Etihad in a match day. I’ve seen and heard City fans out sing Newcastle fans quite often at St James Park.

I will give credit to Newcastle for their support in general throughout the season at St James Park, and more so for most of their fans staying until the final whistle and applauding the team as they walk around the pitch.

Are you going over there if "We" have this opportunity?

Spot on Tim. Absolutely nothing stopping it whatsoever. I’ve pointed out previously that 1894 was formed by one solitary person. Well, there’s half a dozen or so people on this thread who don’t feel 1894’s views regarding the North Stand align with their own so why don’t they form their own group? Or is it too much like hard work and they’d sooner criticise from the sidelines?

In fact, the only thing stopping them doing it is themselves.
@M18CTID and @Tim of the Oak done

There’s no infighting. The only “infighting” is restricted to a handful of posters on here.

There are enough vocal fans in the stadium to fill the safe standing section of the new North Stand and all the other current singing areas.

Think you missed the point mate. We were saying if people wanted to set up a separate atmosphere group then there’s nothing stopping them. We didn’t mean a separate thread! That said, I hope the new thread gets traction
