Atmosphere tonight

My view on it as a15 year old, who goes regularly to home and aways (even in Europe).

I know plenty of lads who would come and make an atmosphere, but for numerous reasons can't go. Whether that being no chance of a tickets (no problem with city on that one), or more importantly pricing. There's only me and my other mate who regularly go to aways, we've been in the 1894 Singing block and you can see the potential there. For me, it just feels like the club aren't doing enough, they throw token gestures but really they have to do more. We need a proper group to get through to the club, a petition or fan awareness of some kind.

If the tickets were priced right, and a designated area made for singing (for ease say two south stand blocks) you could easily get loads of young lads in; and by designated I mean only sell these tickets on the proviso you'll contribute to the atmosphere. If selling the tickets is hard, then just reduce the amount of tickets in this group.

Another point, I do believe some of our fans should actually give Europe some credit. The amount of snobbery I see on here about drums etc is frightening. The way I see it is some noise is better than none? So why don't we adopt some of the European stuff, constant flag waving etc. Surely one game wouldn't be bad as a try.

On the away fans, I do think we should've had them up in the gods from the off. It wouldn't be hard to give them some of the 3rd tier and say, you can have one spiral. Just shut it off from home fans, there's adequate enough exits as it is.

Just my look at things.

Not having a go...just out of interest.

How can you afford to go home and away and all cups?

On the flag waving......hate to be a moaning get but doesn't blocking the view of people behind who've paid a lot of money cause a bit of moaning?

And the response to this young lads view says it all the flag will obscure the view, fooking ell go to the theatre my friend , football is about atmosphere and letting go from the mundane day to day , if you stand up for a second you have someone like yourself moaning, get some flags get some atmosphere and forget about this plastic match day experience shit, stop that shit music before the game , get the blue moon back silence and let the crowd make the atmosphere not the fooking tannoy.

me moaning? like fuck pal. Fucking read what I asked him.

some of those flags are huge.......if some fucker is waving that in front of you all game you'd go apeshit. If you go to watch a flag all game what the fuck are you going to football for?

I am in hospital, just had heart bypass operation.

Managed to get the City game on my Ipad tonight.

Really shocked by the atmosphere , it was shit ,,

If it means we now get plastic fans sitting in seats when its a champions league game , then please fuck right off , no noise, no support for the guys, please , please fuck off. All I could hear was 2000 roma fans

Gutted, drugged, but gutted .

Do please fuck off.

There were foreign fans there, but I know for a fact that they made great effort to be there.

For the record, I have no problem with any Blue who didn't go to the match, but people who make comments like this can get to fuck. Get something with a fucking better speaker.

Living down south means that I can only attend away games Stoke and southwards (would be different if all our home games were Saturday at 15:00, but alas). Yesterday was my first home game since Dortmund two years ago (my Dad and brother have been to a few in that time) and yes, the atmosphere was pretty bad yesterday, but I felt it was much the same against Dortmund two years ago.

Firstly, I don't think there is any problem with our fans outright. Away games are always fantastic (really buzzing for Villa this weekend) and by all accounts the atmosphere at home was fantastic in many of our big games last season (the 4-0 Villa at home being one that people often talk about).

But I do think that there are circumstances that have affected the atmosphere:

- We've become so used to seeing goals at home that we're almost taking them for granted. If the team doesn't score early people seem to really get on edge. In general, maybe we've started to take the quality and success for granted. Last night, two stinking middle-aged men sat behind me moaned for the full 90 minutes, about everything (they even gave Kompany an earful when he drove that shot over the bar in the first half). I think people like them need a reality check. Yes, we all pay good money for tickets and are entitled to moan, but christ they were something else. My dad's a bit of a moaner and it does my head in, but even he was getting annoyed at the two sat behind us.

- We don't have many players who are the kind to get people roaring. That's no bad thing in itself - it's an absolute pleasure to watch such calm players as David Silva - but occasionally you need someone to put in a big tackle and then burst down the wing to get the crowd going. Milner and Zabba were the only ones doing that yesterday

- I think there is a general lack of enthusiasm about the Champions League among our fans, brought by the way we've been screwed by FFP, the elitism of UEFA and the woeful officiating.

- The Etihad is am absolute pain in the backside to get to on a weekday night and worse getting away from after a game. I never leave before the final whistle but I understand why some people do. That might explain the empty seats.

- UEFA's no-booze rule also can't help! It doesn't affect me, but some people need a bit of lubricating to relax and have fun, and to lose their inhibitions and sing a bit more.

- As others have mentioned, those cringe-worthy videos and 'entertainment' can't be helping. It's like the club is trying to cheer-lead and fabricate emotion and anticipation where its not needed. Reminds me of those awful pieces ITV and BBC do before England games to fill air-time. It makes the fans feel kind of redundant.

Anyway, that's my twopence worth. Villa away will be great noise from us Blues as it always is, but for home games it's up to us to do something about it, and always up to the players to get us going. If they labour about slowly like they did last night, the fans will just sink back into their seats.

For you it might be all about the atmosphere. Others might actually want to watch a bit of football occasionally. I'm not saying we write off all suggestions like flags and stuff but we need to show a bit of consideration to all supporters, not just those that have the same perspective as you.

^^^^^Phew!

Good to see a post from a balanced mind, makes a change.

I didn't renew this year due to price but believe me if the place was rocking alot more and was enjoyable i would have sacrificed alot more things to afford it. To me our fans cannot handle title challenges ect we are so use to shit that the pressure gets to us and keeps us quiet until we think we are safe in a match. Never use to be so bad i remember johnson scoring against derby and the whole ground doing bluemoon. It's as if that is beneath us now. Tin hat on you cunts! ;)

Watch it on tele pal or maybe we should have a tele room at the stadium, going to live sport is about taking in and contributing to the event , not taking a packed lunch and shouting bravo , I'm not on about standing the whole game just showing a bit of passion .

Like I said a bit of consideration to all supporters, not just the ones with the same perspective as you. If someone wants to take a packed lunch to the game and shout bravo then good luck to them. Not my business to tell them how to behave at the game.
