Atmosphere tonight

I'm a firm believer in competition breeds success, and that two highly competitive singing sections would help create a much better atmosphere. But the problem is how do you form an intense rivalry within something that already unites us?

Whilst I think about this some more I'm going to have a lovely muffin.

A thread full of people who didn't turn up talking about the atmosphere.... How about turn up and get behind the team.... The so called tourists are getting in because people are choosing not to go.....

I have waited 40 years to see a City team like this, and yet many cannot be arsed to turn up..... Wait till the Derby and we will have hundreds complaining about the ticketing and why they should of got a ticket..

Maybe if you had read an ounce of this thread you would realise the ignorance of your response. Do you really think fans who have been through the 'shit times' didnt go the other night because 'they couldnt be arsed' . Get in touch with reality , people are struggling more than ever and prices for football are higher than ever. Something has to give and quite frankly if theres a choice between putting food on the table or the chance to watch molly coddled, overpriced ,men kick a football around for ninety minutes theres only going to be one winner. That's what really pissed me off most about schooles' little snipes , he's sat there in his own little world where money is not an issue complaing about working class men and woman not acttending a match(sport) which quite honestly is the only reason he's in the fortunate position he is in tday. Prick.[
cant afford it ,fair enough, but some people didn't go ,because "they couldent be arsed" that's the posters point

Let's get the atmosphere rocking at Villa Park on Saturday!

Indeed. From what I am reading a lot of people didn't go because they don't like the CL, FFP, lack of atmosphere, tourists etc etc. not necessarily because they can't afford it. If it is price them fair enough. If you can't afford it then you can't afford it.

I think the club can maybe do something about the price issue but dealing with apathy is a lot harder.

I think the top and bottom of it is that we don't really look the real deal in this competition and a string of poor results has led to people giving it a miss.

Roma at home was always going to be the most important game for me especially after the results in round 1. It's odd that so many gave it a miss given the importance of the game.

Maybe it's the wake up call the club needs to do something different and get the interest back up. The easiest way to do that is to completely change the price structure for the Moscow game as a one off. Make it the same as the Newcastle game and we would have a full stadium again. The club may lose a couple of hundred grand but that it not really a big issue in the grand scheme of things.

This will then solve at least two of the issues that people don't like, prices and tourists. It could even improve atmosphere.

All those who come on here complaining about the attendance at the Etihad read this from the Daily Mail. Can't copy and paste the tables they have published. but it makes good reading on how the rags fix their crowd figures. and their atmosphere is shite.

Manchester United and Greater Manchester Police have cast doubt on claims that the Red Devils have been adding up to 16,000 on attendance figures at Old Trafford.

Under FA rules, Premier League clubs must publish the ‘official attendance’ of all home games, which includes everyone who bought a ticket whether they went to the game or not.
On January 30, Man United published the official attendance for the home game against Southampton as 75,600, but police data said the figure was only 59,666.

In December, the Premier League leaders reported crowds of over 75,000 for the games against Sunderland, Newcastle and West Brom, while the police figures were 64,294, 64,996 and 66,847 respectively.

The disparity was even greater for cup games.

It was claimed Old Trafford was not even half-full for the Capital One Cup tie against Newcastle in September. The police recorded the number of people who passed through the turnstiles at 33,409. United gave the crowd as 46,358. In the next round, against West Ham, the police put down the crowd as 51,724, whereas United recorded it as 71,081.

When Man United played Cluj in the Champions League in December, having qualified for the knockout stages, the crowd was announced as 71,521. In fact, the police say it was 46,894.

The Redsaway fans' website claimed they had received the police data under the Freedom of Information Act.
Under FA rules, United, as the host club, must publish the ‘official attendance’, which includes everyone who bought a ticket whether they went to the game or not.

But, for safety purposes, Greater Manchester Police keeps its own record of the actual number of people who pass through the turnstiles.

When contacted by Sportsmail earlier on Friday a spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said the figures had not been released by them, as the fans’ website claims.

United also expressed surprise at the large discrepancy between the two sets of figures, even considering the fact that, inevitably, some of their 55,000 season-ticket holders are not able to attend every game or give the ticket to someone they know.

The club also pointed out that there are 9,000 executive seats at Old Trafford and there are ‘a number of areas that for various logistical reasons are not scanned’, but that the number of unscanned entrants would not account for such a sizeable difference.

Here's my suggestion for next seasons CL home games.

Offer a CL ticket bundle for season ticket holders and City card holders.(Adults)

Group stages.

If you buy the bundle with your season ticket, it will cost £60 for the 3 group stage games.(on top of your season ticket price) Those that don't take up the offer will have to pay £25 per-match.(the incentive is to buy the bundle, and in doing so, saving £15) 16-21s / Over 65s: should be £45 for the bundle, or £20 on the night.(£60 for 3 games) Under 16s should be £15 for the bundle, or £10 on the night.(£30 for 3 games)

Knockout stages. (last 16)

The club should introduce a category criteria. As an example. If City were to draw the likes of Bayern, Barcelona, Madrid, PSG, Juventus, the big clubs, tickets should be priced a £35 for Adults. If City draw the likes of Dortmund, Atletico, Ajax, Benfica, etc, tickets should be £30 for Adults.

Knockout stages. (last 8)

Tickets should be £40-£35 depending where you sit.(Adults)

Knockout stages. (semi-final)

Tickets should be £45-£50 depending where you sit.(Adults)

I appreciate it needs tweaking, but it's just an idea of what the club could do to fill the Etihad and create an atmosphere on CL nights. And at those prices, I'm sure season tickets holders and city card holders would buy most of the seats, with any remaining going to our new fans. ;-)

£35 + £25 + £40 = £100

That's the exact same price if you bought the bundle last year for the three home matches of the group stage of Champions League.

There was no bundle this year.

Unless standing returns atmosphere at all Premier clubs is poor (in comparison to lower league and Europe).

But you can stand in the South Stand and around to Block 109 (safe standing would be more ideal but these people are still on their feet), the problem is those 'vocal areas' now appear to have been infiltrated by people whose passion to sing is gone or who have no intention to in the first place.

The way forward is collaboration and organisation. The NYCFC thing mentioned is the perfect inspiration, but it needs *club* backing at City. The 1894 Group is the ideal name and front for this, but City should help by alerting more people to its existence and sectioning off a block or two in the expansion and making a concerted effort to fill these with people who will create an atmosphere for 90 minutes.

Reach out to people, work with them individually to get them a seat that would suit them (ie. I like an aisle seat, someone else might want 3 central seats with his mates), and get it going for next season in a new block.

You can stand yes, but only in front of your seat mileas away from your mates who bought tickets earlier/later than you. How can we have standing of a few thousand in lower league but have a total ban (even of a few thousand) in the top two leagues? It doesn't make sense!
