Attack by Napoli fans.

Why on earth would a group, including a youngster decide to hang flags up outside where they’re drinking in fucking Naples?

There are certain European away games where for the sake of safety, it’d be best to leave the flag hanging until you get in the ground.

Would’ve loved to have seen a pic of the all the home fans wearing hoodies and waving stolen inflatable sharks. Maybe next year. Dickheads.

I did think this myself when I read the post but didn't want to come across as a bit of a know all so held back from commenting.

Naples has a bad reputation for violence with gangs of thugs looking for trouble. Someone camped out in their city, erecting a flag and singing, if they were, having a beer would be a deceleration of war to these fuckers! Telling them to jog on when asked to take it down would confirm it. Anyone around from the bad old days just think, would you have done the same away at Liverpool? If the answer was no there is your answer.

Some places think it is fun others are 30-40 years behind and take it as an affront.

The police should have gone into their end, removed the flags and returned them to the city fans in the ground,. They couldn't prove who took them but they could have returned them.

not a chance

How do the police prove that, a) the banner is stolen and b) the people hanging it up are the ones that stole it ? You arrest someone in the stadium and he simply replies some bloke 3 rows back said I was nearer the front could I hang it up for him.

On a seperate note, we had a great time, before the match the locals in the old town and surrounding area were great and wanted to talk, we then got bussed to the ground and on the third attempt sneaked throught the corden at the ground and went for a few beers in a near deserted pub right by the ground.

Eh? An Eccles MCFC flag reported stolen, appears in the Napoli end... upside down ffs.
Obviously it doesn’t belong to Napoli fans. If you get caught with stolen goods here, you get collared. As I said, same with those bell end Russians posing with stolen flags... arrest them as they were clearly ‘associated’ with the violence and theft.

Glad you had a great time and managed to get a few beers without any hassle.

Of course not, hold on they are the police, go and recover the proceeds of a crime blatantly on view. They are used to their own fan's kicking off I am sure they wouldn't be faxed by recovering them.

Not falling out with you but to prove it is stolen the Italian cops would have to send a formal request to the english cops via interpol to get a statement from the owner. Unless the cops read this forum how do they find the owner ? The English cops don't even bother with burglary at the moment, they are not going to bother with finding out who owns the flag. Then the Italian cops interview the guy who is hanging it up and he denies stealing it, saying he was doing it as a favour for someone. They would never prove he stole it. All this is assuming they could be arsed. My experience of foreign cops suggests they couldnt be arsed, bearing in mind all the comments on here about the Mafia, I think a stolen flag is the least of their worries. Bear in mind we were all searched, I was patted down better than airport security, they didnt even search their fans or they would have caught a guy carrying it in. They didnt even find the flares their fans took in.
