Attack by Napoli fans.

Why on earth would a group, including a youngster decide to hang flags up outside where they’re drinking in fucking Naples?

There are certain European away games where for the sake of safety, it’d be best to leave the flag hanging until you get in the ground.
Absolutely. You go away, you keep your head down, drink quietly, do your own thing, away from the crowds, don’t attract untoward attention and save yourself any mither. Basic rules of “engagement”and ones that have stood me in good stead on hundreds of City trips, abroad and in England.

We had a good few beers up near the fort/castle place overlooking the port,10 of us,everyone was dead friendly we had a great time, few of the lads started singing city songs and abit of a crowd started to circle around us and I thought here we go but everything was cool, one of our lot was pissed and starting to do my head in,must of told him to chill out 10 times but he just kept saying "fuck them",we managed to get a taxi to what we thought was the stadium but the thieving **** dropped us 2 miles away! 5 of us walked still with our pissed up mate, still wonder how we got to the stadium without getting stabbed,we ended up at their end where the old bill put us in a van and took us round to our end, after the game got the coach down to the port where me n my pal started walking the half mile to the hotel when I saw 20 city fans getting chased off a load of the locals which I presumed must of had knifes or other tools,my pal wanted to carry on walking (hes from moss side and didnt see a problem) but I insisted we flag a taxi down as I could see loads of the cowardly greasy fuckers all over the place and it was getting scary,I dont mind a punch up but I not getting stabbed, must admit to being glad to get to my hotel,! I wouldn't want to go back to Naples and was glad to get out of there the next day and get on my train to Rome, wouldn't of missed Sergio breaking the record for the world and glad I went

My lot kept our heads down after the game. No singing, no colours, walking to hotel causing no mither...Didnt stop us being singled out and only a failed ambush by the fookers stopped us getting a kicking. Balaclavas, weapons etc ....wankers

The Port Area was designated as a protected zone so I don’t know what you are on about.

Complete and utter bollocks. “Doing your own thing away from the crowds” is absolutely the worst possible thing a visiting fan can do in Naples. Have you not read this fucking thread? Every single incident involved greater numbers of Napoli fans attacking smaller numbers of City fans, many of whom were “keeping their heads down” and were isolated from where the main body of blues were. It’s no coincidence that the hundreds of City fans who stuck together in the port area didn’t encounter any problems there with no Napoli fans daring to kick off with them. You can’t even begin to compare it to somewhere like Dortmund or Munich and assume that what is relatively safe to do in those cities is safe to do in Naples. That’s naive in the extreme.

At least in the end you stayed safe. Sounds like summat you’ll look back on in years to come and laugh about. Glad you had a good trip all in all, hope your pissed up mate did too.

Protected zone? I don’t know what you’re on about.

Was it a protected zone once you stepped off the bus after the game?

Answer is no. Why? Because it wasn’t a protected zone.

What the fuck is a protected zone anyway?

Did you go to the Game. Yes or No?
