Attacks in Paris

The French Council of the Muslim Faith has condemned tonight’s “odious” attacks “in the strongest possible terms”.

Its interesting if this happened, no idea if its true, but not the first time I've seen it, we've no idea if they had specific information about this, but if true the City should have been on high alert.

Actions speak louder than words.

Also quite a few posters have been accused of 'point scoring' in the event of these atrocities. Don't join their rhetoric by voicing some of your own.

That doesn't work though, you cannot kill extremists by randomly taking out innocents as well, as all you do is make more extremists out of the people who's innocents friends and families you just murdered and give more fuel to the recruiters. I'd have thought "the war on terror" would have made that pretty obvious. The more you persecute all muslims for the crimes of extremists, the more you drive towards extremism. It's counter productive, it only makes things worse. Fuck knows what the solution is, but persecuting all muslims clearly isn't it.

Did I actually just read a poster on here say he was going to go down the mosque and blow himself up to "see how they like it"?

To be fair, by olden day standards, 150 dead probably wouldn't be a big deal and if it happened all the way in a different country then you wouldn't even hear about it. It probably is the most peaceful era, the bar just isn't set very high.

Yep. Its also wrong to tar all Muslims with the same brush, but it's ok to let 1 guy speak for all 1.5 billion of them. As long as it's positive.

I'm not generalising here. I'm arguing that as a nation we should be going after ISIS. Not Muslims or the faith they choose to believe in.

That will mean a war I'm afraid, and people are usually killed during wars. That isn't me suggesting we should wipe out the Muslim race, that is me saying that extreme religion is killing people in the western world and that those who carry it out will not be reasoned with.

After 9/11 you could argue that what I'm suggesting is the same response.

Whether you believe that particular war answered more questions than it created is down to each individual, but I'm getting to the stage where I can no longer see another solution other than to send in the troops and weed these bastards out using whatever intelligence we have.
