The new stand looks absolutely explceptional. It felt like we were playing in the Allianz. If they do the North Stand as well it's genuinely going to be in the top 3 stadiums in Europe alongside Wembley and the Allianz.

At the stadium the announcer said the attendance and said it was a record attendance at the Etihad Stadium but it's only a record attendance at this stadium for City; Ricky Hatton got 56337 in 2008 and Oasis got 59000 in 2005.

To be fair there was a spare seat next to me and one next door but three to me in ESL1.

If you look at their average home crowds during their glory days they were pretty feeble. Mid 30,000's most seasons. Didn't have an average home league crowd over 40,000 once between 1981 and 1998 - seventeen fucking years.

Another part of their history that's skillfully sidestepped.
