Is anyone mad enough to come with me tonight? We could split the costs, straight up and back...

You won't have to go as far North as Crooktree. I may be up for it, will decide later on when I've checked weather and looked where its goingto be a clear night.

North of the border but not right up. Moffat, Peebles or somewhere like that. I probably will be up to it, just need to check a few things when I get in like weather etc.

This would be a stunning place to view from....there are a couple of videos from last night on the site.

You need to go somewhere with a clear view to the north, with no lights. What's it like at kielder? Can you see north?

This was last night view from there.

Just looked at the weather clear sky tonight around there and only a 3 hour drive considering some people go thousands of miles to see it 3 hours is not much, I'd be tempted on going but still in nottingham and not leaving for manc land untill about about another hour or so.

Kielder is great, a bit of a pain in the arse to get to, but zero light pollution as a result, and clear views to the North (see video above). Forecast is good for tonight...

On the website i use which sends me the alerts, it has good photograph locations with views to the North. have a look here. Tann Hill pub is a great location, ive been there a few times before. The further North you go the better, but i really dont think you will need to go to Northern Scotland to view it tonight.

have a look o Facebook at Glencoe Ski Centre, some cracking pictures from last night.
