Usually whenever there is the slightest possibilty of anything interesting happening in the sky, it the cue for it to immediately cloud over until the next morning. I've lost count of the number of times I've got up in the middle of the night to watch meteor showers etc just to be met with thick cloud cover.

The current KP rating right now is over 8.5. To see it at out latitude we only need a KP 7! Shame it isn't dark! Well worth a drive out to the Moors later on to see if you can see anything.

This gives some good locations where is best to view it. You will need an clear view to the North without streetlights.

From 8pm onwards bbc and met office are suggesting clear skies.

Went to the top of Holm moss last night but couldn't see anything, skies didn't look clear enough. Was bloody busy up there though!

Taken from North Wales on the night of November 2025 we saw
intense solar activity as the Sun neared Solar Maximum, featuring multiple X-class solar flares (including an X5.1 event on Nov 11) and powerful Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs), triggering significant geomagnetic storms, the strongest in years, causing aurora displays globally and disrupting communications/GPS, with one storm reaching G5 (extreme) levels.
