No system of promotion and relegation, instead it's that stupid franchise model which only encourages mediocrity. Granted, the A-League isn't quite as socialist as MLS, but it is still similarly run. At this time of year it's a lot more fun to watch the Brazil Série A.
I appreciate that, but what do honestly expect from a country with the geography of Australia, and a league that is only four years old??
Actually, I think the Brazilian model would work great in Australia. Have state tournaments to dictate what level of the pyramid each team should be on. When you consider just how large Brazil is and how they've managed to grow top clubs and competitions -I think that negates the geography excuse. I'm a US citizen myself and a lot of people here say the same thing as you when the Club model vs. Franchise model debate comes up and I respond the same way -Brazil has done it why can't we?
There already is state leagues in this country, quite a few actually. The FFA are looking into the possibility of a B-League right now too.
