Away fans in home end again

Why can’t young people afford to go? If they’re still living at home then they’ll have more disposable income than those with young families or people saving for a home.

When I first worked, I bunged my mum some board and then spent the rest on beer, clothes and HMV. I’d imagine the kids’ priorities are nights out with their mates over football. A match they can watch on TV (whilst we never could.)

I get what your saying but when it gets to the next generation how are people going to pay for it. If you look around on a match day we are very much an ageing fan base who have been paying for their season ticket year on year. People complain about no atmosphere and no wonder why because young people simply can’t afford it. I’m not saying this is just city and eventually stadiums across Britain will lie half empty because no one can afford it. Tell me how German teams manage to make even if they’re only charging their fans £20 euros a game.

Bayern has plenty of corporates paying 200 Euros per game and the other German Clubs pay far lower wages to players. The cheaper tickets tend to be behind the goals and the more expensive ones along the length of the pitch, as a general rule, but it varies between different grounds.

Colin Bell L3 has what are essentially blocks for away fans for years in the CL

Away fans would rarely fill the designated areas let alone overspill. Celtic was the huge standalone issue. I’d never want to sit in the wrong end in Rome.

I assure you that Fulham puts a good few thousand tickets on sale for each match in a neutral end. It’s not comparable to other clubs and it should never be the norm here.

Have you ever thought of going on mastermind, your expertise in foreign football stadiums and how their run would be invaluable. I can just hear it now we’ll done Tim 40 questions correct and no passes:)

They’d have to ask me about the grounds I remember going in lol.

I enjoyed being in the neutral end at Barca when you lot were throwing baguettes over the high fence at me lol.

So you’d be happy with potentially hundreds of Liverpool fans/away fans in the family stand??? Even though we could easily fill those seats with actual city fans. You’d also be depriving city fans from being able to get tickets.

We aren’t Fulham and unlike them we have the support to fill the seats - SS3 being an example of that when the away fans don’t fill their allocation.

I think the vast majority of city fans would be completely against the idea and if it was ever implemented I can only imagine the backlash

No, you’ve got my view wrong. If we can fill every seat with our own supporters then great, no need for what I was suggesting at all. I’ve seen loads of comments on here about empty seats, suggestions of tickets being given away to local groups etc.

And re backlash, I agree there’d deffo be a lot of vocal objection from some for sure.

I love these people who say "City Matters should do something" as though all we have to do is mention it and the club will say "Oh yes. We'll do that then".

Of course we care. What would you like us to do that would guarantee they reduce them? Hold the board hostage and threaten to kill them one by one? We are charged by our owners with being financially self-sufficient. One thing the club could do to increase matchday revenue is get rid of the cheap tickets and do what Liverpool and the rags do, which is charge one price per block whoever we play. I'm sure that would be warmly welcomed across the board (and yes, I'm being sarcastic). We make operating losses that have to be offset by our sales of players so if you want cheaper tickets we could sell players like KDB to subsidise that. Is that really what you want?

I've said numerous times on here that the club's action in continually raising prices is counter-productive, short-sighted and may well impact future attendances. I've told the club that. Not sure what else we can do.
City Matters should do something. Just because fans want you to do something doesn’t mean we think those fuckers at the club, who don’t give a single shit about long standing Blues will action any of it, but at least put the point across that we do not like the situation we are in in our own stands.

It is not good enough what they’ve done to our stands. And it is the club. They’re the ones who could reign in every single ticket and only make them available to City fans if they really wanted to.

Their own Ts&Cs state that only City fans can buy tickets in the City stands. And I’ve quoted those to them over the phone in the past and they have a “don’t give a shit” attitude about it. It needs fucking changing (not their Ts&Cs, they need to remain and they should follow them themselves).

We never had this problem to anywhere near this extent when we were an average Prem club getting 44000 in a 47000 stadium. There’s be the odd non-City fan in the home section but nothing like we’re seeing now. Our stands are a disgrace!

We’ve become a big Fulham. It’s a joke!

I must admit its blatant. Me and my six year old want seasoncards and it was the same v Port Vale. It's beyond me that City don't sell out every game. The purchaseable allocation needs to be vastly reduced and given over to those who will go every week, irrespective of seat location. Open it up to Citizens members and we'll be at every game.

Exactly. In Germany, Bayern have phenomenal commercial income but much of that comes from their main corporate shareholders Allianz, Audi and Adidas, who own 25% of the club between them. Their revenue is nearly double that of Dortmund, who are the next biggest German team in terms of revenue. They should be walking the Bundesliga every season. So they can afford the top players. Their matchday income is about the same as Liverpool's. Dortmund's matchday income is about the same as ours so their prices can't be that much different across the board.

"City Matters should do something". Tell me what we should do that would guarantee an acceptable outcome. All we can do is make our voices heard but if anyone has constructive suggestions then I'd genuinely welcome them. Had some great feedback on seasoncard renewal packs and hopefully some of it will be implemented.
