Away fans / tourists in home sections

Or how about this….
1) Man United Youtube fella called “Angry Ginge” very famous in the Youtube world.

2) Man Utd season ticket holder who regulary sings anti-city songs

3) In the away for the derby at the Etihad singing the usual anti-City nonsense

Here the best bit…….
He’s in the HOME END of the Etihad for City v Real Madrid openly wearing a Real Madrid shirt.

Why sell any tickets/hospitality tickets to a rival supporter for such a big game.
One answer : ££££££££

And we wonder why people are pissed right fucking off
He's the sort of prick who nobody would complain about if he got a slap, bellend

He puts the M in Munich that ****

Yes you're right, all the evidence on a match day points otherwise, but you keep on defending people who do not give a shite about your support.

I don't think PB is defending those people, he's been critical of Soriano and De Vries

He's defending himself as he was fundamental to two policies that were built on the premise of fans touting and/or picking and choosing to attend

The CM SC rep coming up with ideas that a) affect SC holders with high points and b) produce a product that ISN'T even a SC and has meant less SCs

Maximising profits is not for CM reps to busy themselves with, leave it to the club who pay people to do that and instead throw all your weight behind increasing SCs, particularly protecting the generational links

The abolition of points for away games benefitted the highest points holders the most. I’m just stating the fact.

What would be interesting is if the club looked at the buying history of those fans with membership only. If they found that A N Other only buys one ticket per season and it’s always against the same team there might be a strong chance that the person is one of those crafty fans that buys memberships just to watch his team against us as he has no chance of getting an away ticket. It can’t be too hard to run a programme to look for fans who have bought, let’s say less than three tickets per season for the past five seasons. A little bit of digging on social media sites etc would soon out these people. Flag up these accounts and ensure they can’t buy anything in the future. Email them explaining the situation and if they want to appeal against the outcome then let them do so. I suspect most want, the minority may register again under a false name etc but if two or three types of ID are required including at least one with a photo it might make them think twice. That roots out those away fans who think they are being clever each season, it doesn’t root out those tickets sold by resellers buts even easier to sort isn’t it.

When the club sell the tickets on to the ticket websites, are they getting a premium price for them as they know the site will make a profit or selling at normal or cheaper because it means they don't have the workload and admin of selling it?

If the ticket site doesn't sell a ticket, do the club still get paid?

Trying to understand the rationale for the club wanting to use them.

The club clearly understands the risk of away team fans buying tickets for high profile fixtures, which is why they put in buying criteria but at the same time fully aware the ticket sites won't care who they sell to.

From what i have read & heard, the ticket websites return what they havent sold (trying to get £400+) and City blag everyone by saying these are the 2nd batch of tickets that are being released or exchange tickets - usually adding them to the seat planner about 48hrs before the game!

Should have phrased it better, thanks for pulling me up there @Tim of the Oak

Not the high-est points holders, but the high points SC holders, mostly younger lads/lasses who started a few years behind 28k+ group we have.

No way for the 20k and up to catch up and get those Brentford, Bournemouth etc. as the older lot start to wind down how many aways they go to.

Literally waiting for people to die now to catch up when an old boy (who's done the hard yards for sure), can now pick and choose only the high profile away games.

I was happy the way it was, but would also have been in favour of the rolling 5 year period or something if we HAD to do something.

Wrong thread for this loyalty points stuff so I'll drop it

I don’t know how the Membership (or is it Citizens) programme works but don’t you have to have a certain number of points as well as a membership to buy a ticket. What I mean is, without points you’d only get tickets for low priority games that go on general sale but would have no chance of getting a ticket for the Dippers, Arsenal or the Rags (the games that bring big prices for resale tickets).
I am a season card holder, on the cup schemes, but don’t have many points so I struggle to get tickets for away games. Doesn’t it work the same way for Members and home games ?

Don’t worry, the now old ticket compliance manager has been doing that. Has he or she fuck.

I KID YOU NOT!

This is from the City Ticket Compliance Manager vacancy advert.

Manchester City is recruiting a Ticket Compliance Manager to investigate ticket re-sale misuse and all aspects of ticket touting. This role forms part of the Club’s ongoing efforts to make sure tickets go to qualified fans.

It gets better.

The successful applicant will actively investigate ticket re-sale misuse for home and away matches and fraud along with all aspects of ticket touting to ensure that the Club’s terms and conditions are adhered to and that crimes under the Serious and Organised Crime Act 2005 and the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994.are minimised.

I wrote an email to the club today asking them to explain why I’ve had United and Liverpool fans sat next to me in the family stand this season.
I gave as much detail as possible about the games I’d experienced away fans and the ill feelings it causes, as well as my son not wanting to go anymore because of the bad atmosphere.
I await my response.

It will be filed under do not reply. He won’t follow it up.

This could stop within weeks if the club severed its links with the 8 official ticket touting websites and sold all match day tickets and hospitality packages through the official City ticket website. You would still get away fans who have bought citizen cards getting tickets in the home ends, but the problem wouldn’t be like it currently is.
Seems like a ridiculously sensible suggestion.....it'll never catch on :)

I listed my ticket for Sunday, it was "sold" within 2 minutes (email confirming it was listed 00:56am, email it was sold at 00:58am) of being put up, and the person in my seat bought it from a ticket site. Is that what the exchange was for?? I think the club has a system that siphons them off to these agencies, no other explanation for it going that quickly at that time of night
Taking your last paragraph in isolation:
If your ticket was sold two minutes after listing then the club could have automatically syphoned it off to an agency. But it's also possible the agencies have bots to detect changes in the tickets available and buy them themselves.
If the club are to blame then the tickets are going to official touting partners, but unofficial touts could have numerous membership numbers enabling them to buy any spares and the club would be none the wiser.

At least the Liverpool fans in the City ends left at full-time and weren’t kept in.
