Away fans / tourists in home sections

I'm sorry but that figure of 3k AVERAGE no shows (excluding tickets that are listed on the exchange and do not sell) per game is absolute nonsense. Just a blatant lie by the club.

That's the entire away end's worth of empty seats for EVERY game? No chance... Not buying it. The only way it would even be close to the truth is if they're including cup games.

Just a poor attempt to turn City fans against each other.

I was thinking that too ……. It would be very noticeable

Nothing about away ticket sales. Staggering that nearly 3k SC holders don't transfer to family and friends or list on the exchange. I wonder if the club contacts these people and asks the reasons why the ticket wasn't used. Obviously it could be something as awful as a death in the family or even the death of the SC holder so the club will have to tread carefully but surely some research should be undertaken as to why on average this many people don't attend or let someone else use the ticket. That's basic stuff to undertake if the club really wanted to. I wonder if there is an option whereby three hours before ko, local families can be contacted and told that there are free tickets available for a game. SC holders who don't want the hassle of listing the tickets or have anyone to transfer can tick an option online so the club know that these tickets can be released to locals FOC
I agree with the latter.

20,700 ST holders on CL scheme? I’m not having that. Where I sit I would say it’s about 1 in every 10, if that. Mostly all tourists for CL games.

That's what I thought. 550 each maybe. Haha.
That would sound about right
4.5k tickets to them.

If i was City and provided these rip-off agencies tickets, i would put the pressure on and make them work for it.

I would put in the contract that if you want the tickets for Utd/Liverpool/Chelsea/Arsenal, you need to sell at least 90% of the 550 tickets for the less glamorous games as we would be unhappy with any returns.

Whatever tickets you return on average, this will be your reduced allocation for the “big games”

Shit, i’ve never worked for a ticket agency but if City gave me 550 tickets, i could 100% sell them for the big games and make a massive profit.

The amount of times City have e-mailed me asking if i want more tickets for the shite games, pull your finger out and get your beloved 3rd party ticket sellers to do a bit of graft for once - thats what they are getting paid for FFS

Rant over

Crazy how all the figures they’ve produced just seem too good to be true, and fit a certain narrative, wreaks of ‘managing’ the situation

Yes, that's what I thought. 4.5k wouldn't surprise me at all.

Well they shouldn't be using them anyway. It's just a way of dressing up a standard ticket for much more money and circumventing the shit they'd receive for doing it directly themselves. I am curious as to how much the club would receive and the commission the agency would get. I.e a 50/50 split? As you allude to; there isn't the need to do this for the more glamorous ties as they'd sell all the tickets without their involvement. It has to be some sort of arrangement that is worthwhile for both sides.

If the number of 550 each is to be true you're suggestion is quite a good idea. I'd also stipulate for all those unsold seats for the 'lesser' games they should then take the same number of seats off them from their allocation of the bigger games.

Better still. Fuck them off altogether.

I’d guess including cup games would bring the average down if anything.

No shows are more likely with tickets bought up to a year in advance, with no knowledge of when a game is going to be, than for a game with date and time decided, a couple of weeks away.

It's one seat in 18, and I doubt any area of the ground has that many empty seats.

How many more tickets are the 8 official ticketing touting websites going get when the North stand is open and there are an 8000 extra tickets to sell?

Same as the evidence they produced to show a third of away tickets were being passed on by points whores. They don't even make up a number that could be passed off as realistic.

It's Trumpian "post truth" levels of BS from the club nowadays

Minutes from our meeting with the Club in February now online.

Lots of interesting information in there, which I’m glad the Club have agreed to share.

Up to 550 tickets are provided to the eight official resale partners and offsite packages.

In the minutes, there's a breakdown for a typical CL game which I think shows the scale of the issue:

Stadium capacity – 52,500.
• Season Ticket Member Sales (Cup Scheme and Non-Cup Scheme) – up to 37,000. The number
which attend game by game is generally up to 25,000 of which we typically see 3,500
transferred to friends and family. There are 20,700 Season Ticket Members on the UEFA Cup
Scheme.
• Member Sales – up to 15,000 depending on the number of Season Ticket Members who have
purchased.
• Official Supporters Clubs – up to 800.
• Hospitality and Premium Seats including Offsite Packages and Official Resellers (10% of
Hospitality and Premium Seat allocation) – up to 5,500.
• Group Tickets – up to 1,500.
• Internals including Directors Box and invited Club guests, Club Partners, Football
Management, Players, Academy, Women’s Team, Club Officials, Staff, Former Players, Media
seats, charitable causes, City in the Community, and seat kills – up to 2,000.
• Visiting supporters – up to 3,000.
• UEFA Allocations (Champions Club, Category 1, purchased tickets located in home blocks) –
up to 2,600.

It's notable that if for a popular CL game all the above in bold italics took the maximum, then that adds up to 15,400 tickets.

Now City are saying the stadium capacity is 52,500 and there are 37,000 season tickets holders, so if every season ticket holder bought their seat for a popular CL game there effectively wouldn't be any tickets to sell to members (or to put it another way, the seats being sold to members are basically just the ones season ticketholders don't buy for the popular CL games).

Furthermore if on average 12,000 season ticketholders don't attend CL games, then potentially there's up to 27,400 seats that are being sold to different people for CL games as opposed to PL games.

A quick update for those that are interested, not that anyone should be, but a few posters on here might well be in my position in the future, which is primarily why I'm sharing my tale of woe.

I'm appearing in Court in Uxbridge tomorrow afternoon to answer the charges laid against me following my Brentford incident. My solicitor is applying for an adjournment as I have only been given 10 days to build a defence, which is totally inadequate.

They have also spoken to The Met Police to ask why it is that I've been asked to report to Hounslow PS next week for biometrics, when this could have been done tomorrow to save a further visit to London. They have also asked why I've been asked to visit a police station that closed down last year....I kid you not. So, its now Charing Cross tomorrow ahead of Court.

They are also questioning the legality of MCFC banning me from ALL games involving the club whilst the investigation is ongoing. MCFC have the right to ban me from the Etihad Campus, but no right to ban me from another clubs property. They do not have the authority to do this. Anyone who has had the ban letter following the Liverpool arrests might want to take this up with their legal representatives.

On the subject of legal advice, I am using a firm called Football Law Associates who were recommended by the FSA. If anyone needs representation, these are the guys to use. They only deal with football related cases (which tells you how many fans are currently subject to court proceedings) and their knowledge of the kind of charges being brought against regular supporters is second to none. They advocate fairer treatment of fans and they are all ex-FSA lawyers.

Anyway....up the fucking Blues.

37K SC holders, I could have sworn the figure given out before Covid was 36k and plenty on here had said we have lost 5k since then that haven't been replaced. Who is telling the truth?
We're still heavy on ST holders in my part of 315 but nowhere near what it was like prior to Covid and I'd assume from my own eyes that where I am up there that it's a legacy stronghold.

It'd be interesting what BM members see around themselves pre lockdown to now.

I'd be very surprised if we've got 30k ST holders now.

Thank you Alex.
Two quick questions:
Who takes the minutes for this meeting?
Why is the Ticket Compliance Manager the only one without a surname? Unless of course his surname is just B.

I am going to share my recent story. I was born and have lived in Cornwall all my life, and since birth I have loved football and my Dad (having moved down in his teen years) made sure I supported City. I had to suffer the likes of Nicky Summerbee and David Brightwell growing up! (There are an enormous amounts of great memories too!).

From 96 onwards, we had season tickets. (Yes, up and back on a Saturday). Time goes by, and Dad and I have tended to go to games a few times a year up until pre-covid. Dad, is now a bit older and would rather not do long distance travel and stay at home and relax; My Mrs has been harping on about coming to watch us for the last 3-4 years, so booked up tickets for the City Plymouth game. (5th round FA cup, tickets easy). Booked up hotel, dog kennels, etc, and had an e-mail through (that went through to junk mail) stating:

There was no contact number whatsoever, and it linked through the to help section on the City web site. My Dad has managed the tickets through his membership and the paper tickets before that for the last 20 odd years. I stupidly bought the tickets through my account (that has been open for several years) for the pure use of buying presents for family.

I genuinely feel disillusioned. Was this all my fault?

By the way, I live 48 miles away from Plymouth.

I said when I saw that email, that they’ll be one genuine City fan living down that end who’ll get caught up in this. Looks like it was you.

I’ve great sympathy but if you’ve bought tickets using a membership that has never bought a ticket before and you live in the area ( even 48 miles away ) I can see why the club has done it, after Plymouth fans were apparently all over the internet bragging that they’d got tickets in the City end.

I can see why they have done it. But ffs, give me a contact number! Seats were cancelled immediately! Unfortunately, I don't think I will ever be buying a ticket again. We are £250+ out of pocket because of the safety and security department :( It is hardly like I have been stealthing online on this forum for 15 years just to get tickets for other people!
