Away tickets price cap next 3 seasons

I went to dortmu
Ok it's a step in the right direction, acknowleding at least that tickets are a rip off.

This benefit will only be noticed at say the Emirates or the Swamp where you'll pay significantly more than £30.
At many away grounds it's nearer to the £30 cap anyway.

The big hurdle for financial cost of attending matches (for me) is the cost of Travel.
I was desperate to go to Bournemouth away, have enough LP's to get a ticket but £121 for the fucking train?
Virgin can fuck right off.

Sort out the cost of trains in this country, companies knowing when matches are on and to make more profit are eager to up the prices as they know football fans
will be booking train tickets.

This has turned me off aways the most - Travel cost.
I'm aware coach travel is available but still you're talking average £30 for the coach.
Cheaper than the train but much longer journeys.
nd game last year and my train from Düsseldorf to Dortmund was free cos I had a match ticket. That's what should be happening. Rip off Britain though

I go to which ever games I want so it doesn't effect me either way but this system is being abused by point whores and even by the club itself ie selling points.
The people with high points clearly advocate no change but they fail to see how this flawed system is damaging our away support, since my first season ticket in the sixties never has the average age of our away support been so high, this club has always innovated with our young fans but that is now being strangled by this badly managed points scheme.
We went from ticket stubs to points at a whim of the club and we could just as easily go from a points scheme to a ballot in the same way. I know loads of lads who went to every away game when this club was on it's arse in div 3 and were priced out and who can never realistically get back on the away game scene even if they wanted.
Do you count them in with the bandwagon jumpers?

Agreed. It is surprising how many points whores do not seem to be aware of the old ways how you had to qualify for away and cup tickets. I don't see any mention of the little vouchers in the season ticket books and queuing at Maine Road on alternate Saturdays mornings, let alone coupons in home programmes or the front page of away tickets.

If you concerned about a young following would you advocate a ballot for say 16-20 year old?

Could put them in a block and see what happens

It would be much better if the club found a way to stop people buying tickets they don't use and have the points on a rolling three years
then anyone with the highest points who actually go would not be penalized and young fans have a hope of catching up

the club should also stop selling points to the highest bidders and anyone found point whoring should have their points zeroed

for those advocating a ballot, how would that have worked in the last month or so. Chelsea 100's unsold, sunderland the same, Liverpool the same, and Norwich away this weekend on open sale.
Exactly
Last four games all with empty seats, where are all these people desperate to get to games at the moment
They're desperate to get to the 'big' games but would rather sit in front of the telly for the others

A ballot only benefits the ones who rarely can be arsed to go to an away game

ok so the club are selling points. its all about the money, money that lets us buy aguero etc, money that they charge for pies and so on. I don't anything I can avoid in the stadium so it frees up 50 quid for platinum. its all about choices.

Fair point , so maybe newbies who have been to a set amount of games that have gone on open sale could get put in a ballot for a few of the more popular games.

'you are stuck up and pompous and know nothing about me or the rank and file city fans that go to games' . Pots and kettles?

Just read the holier than thou attitude of those who have mega points and the way they think they are superior to others because of their higher points.

You said yourself that 'middle pointers will never catch up the same old faces'. My problem is the self satisfied looks those people have on their faces.

Make your mind up
I said they wouldn't catch up if 10% was held back for a ballot. you sunshine have serious issues with people that are better than you. you have to be a leftie.

Where's your evidence that the age of the away fans is getting older? Produce it instead of the constant pontificating.

There's plenty of threads on here going on about the antics of the young uns at the away game, which is rather odd as they're not there according to you.

Although I agree it will be full of the coffin dodgers at Sunderland, WBA or almost anywhere mid week, or not glamorous.
