Away tickets

Good post. My lad too is as priveledged as you due to my points have always been able to get him a ticket via the ‘pull through’ he’s 15 with 17k points and had a season ticket since he was 3. I accept I can’t do this from next year so hoping he will be in the bracket when he qualifies in his own right for most always, be a shame and very unfair if this is snatched away by reducing the allocation to us seasoncards holders who have put the miles in.And spent f###ing thousands getting him to this stage with always being platinum on all the cup schemes. Not to mention the money virgin trains and the other rail companies have had out of me
I know platinum, cup schemes etc is not right but we were forced into this by city so how can they stop it now?
Where were our corporate ‘friends’ when we were shit ?
I would imagine he will be ok for the vast majority, as that should be around where I was at the same age.

The issue of platinum is even more important for people like me and your son, as those double points can really be the difference between attending and missing out on an away game.

I don't think anyone has an issue with the Euro away's because of the cost in both time and money.
Which games would you ballot, say the 4/5 that have historically gone to the highest points or those that sold out at the lowest points without going to open sale? What about away cup games, do we have a ballot for those too?
Im 16. Ive had a gold season ticket for 9 years (since 07-08) that's 190 points/season + cup games - total = 2915 points. At what age am I gonna be able to buy away tickets from the club?
My dads loyalty in the 80s has been rewarded with around 7000 points.
The average game sells out at 12,000 and above
tell me why balloting a small number of tickets for non top 4 games is not a good idea.

Everyone is saying "change the system" "what about the youngsters" and "boo hoo its not fair".
Well we were all youngsters once,we all missed out on big games once.
I started going to City in 1965, thats 36 years, read that again,36 years, before a single loyalty point was handed out. I didnt do every game of course, i got married and had kids but i put some bloody hard yards in i can tell you. So in 2001 that stood for nothing,i had to build up points like everyone else. Fast forward 18 years and i can go to any game,tv permitting it also allows me to book travel etc early and cheap, well it did till i got poorly but mark my words I'll get to every game i can,ive earned it.
So youll forgive me if i say the tickets should go to those like myself and people who may even have been going longer, and not someone who joins a supporters club or some bloody kid who doesnt like the system.

I was asking which games the poster was thinking of.

Re your points, if you'd been on the Cup Schemes and gone Platinum and gone to a few away games then you'd be on over 12,000 points.... Why do you feel you should queue jump?

I’m in agreement with a ballot for tickets. There’s older people than the 18-25 brackets too who would like to be involved also! Ageism I believe

It’s where they come from I disagree with from the three areas, points, supporters club, corporate allocation. Why can’t the numbers quoted ‘150’ be shared across the the three areas? Instead of picking on one?

Most of the youngsters I see week in week out are savvy re Facebook twitter etc ( I don’t do either as it’s fuck all to do with anyone else where I am or what I’ve had for my tea) so will always get their hands on them anyway
The only social media I do is this

The Club played on our heartstrings when they introduced Loyalty Points, it was to make us feel even more part of the Club that we love. Introducing Platinum meant that those who desired to go to away matches or wanted to be near the front of the queue for Final tickets paid more; remember this came in off the back of winning the FA Cup for the first time in 42 years. I think we can be sure at that time the Corporate take up for away tickets was minimal bar the usual suspect and the odd London match and this is why tickets now sell out at relatively high point levels. On that basis it would be appropriate to redress the balance to what we originally signed up for, and therefore any re-allocation of tickets should come out of the Corporate pot!

Loyalty points and Platinum were already in place when we moved to the Etihad or no later than the season after. So that's well before 2011.

I'd say that loyalty points were introduced to encourage people to buy tickets for less popular games. We struggled to sell out any game, home or away, bar the derby in those days. Mancini's first FA Cup game was at Boro in January 2010 and the City end was maybe a third full if that. Nowadays we'd probably sell that out in 5 days. You could build your points up quite quickly in those days as you could get tickets for virtually every game. Bill was right in some of what he said but you simply can't do it these days. So I'd say it was 90% encouragement and 10% rationing before 2012, whereas now it's 100% about rationing and people are having to find ways to beat the system.

Platinum was, I'd say, just a money making scheme when we were desperately short of cash. In the early days it would have contributed about 5% to our matchday income stream and maybe 2% to our overall revenue. Now it's 1% and 0.1% respectively.

Platinum was introduced the week we won the FA cup 2011 to start the following season as I was offered Superbia (which I declined)

Loyalty points were introduced in 2002 possibly 2001, but Platinum definitely started for the 2011/12 season so maybe brought in because of FFP?
