What a season he’s having. He’s immaculate every week. £20m cheaper than van dijk, 3 years younger and for me he’s a better all round defender with the added bonus that he’s that rarest of beasts a top class left footed centre half. And he rarely seems to get out of second gear.

The youngsters dont understand, yes Kompany, Stones, Laporte, Otamendi are very decent players but unless you have left a stadium singing "theres only one Brian Tyldesley" following a defensive masterclass then you simply cannot appreciate what it takes to be a real centre back. Then of course there was Mick McCarthy......
