Laporte trains today with Athletic while waiting for the City to pay

The operation is closed. Aymeric Laporte has reached an agreement with Manchester City to play the next six seasons in the English squad. It only remains for the Premier League leader to deposit in the League the 65 million of his clause of rescission. He will do it shortly.

While waiting for the money to be in the Athletic accounts, Laporte continues to be at rojiblanco. For that reason, today he will train with the team at 10.00 in the morning in San Mamés.

El Correo now. Deal done !

Waiting for us to deposit the full amount ? All Euro transfers are usually paid over 3 or 4 years

RedCafe calling Txiki/City as hypocrites for not having enough to spend on Sanchez but then spending close to 100m on Laporte and Fred. Do they not understand the difference between spending on wages and transfers ?

We had enough to spend on Sanchez.

We have enough to spend on Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, and LeBron James is we want to. We're owned by the Chairman of one of the world's largest sovereign wealth funds and I'm sure he could find a way to spend whatever he wanted.

Instead we run our business in a way that we want to, making money along the way and spending on players we find important and not spending on player we didn't really fancy that much.

If we had REALLY wanted Sanchez, he'd be in a blue shirt and every single one of them knows it.

Not sure why everyone thinks when Mendy is back we will play 3 at the back. Mendy played 5 games and in those 5 games, we played 3 at the back once.

Likely because Guardiola blamed the Mendy injury on his inability to play Sergio & Jesus together. Saying he could play 3 at the back.

For the record, I think we play much better with a 4. 3 fit senior centre halves are certainly needed.

If Laporte is coming in for Stones to be taken out for a while which left footed centerback plays on the right of the 2 ?

A, nothing to do with Stones.
B, Otamendi is quite clearly right footed.

I do wonder if some our fans even watch the games.

Personal opinion is that with back three being practiced quite a lot pre season and it being used against Liverpool is that Pep planned on using it against stronger teams more inclined to attack.
A combination of losing Mendy and Kompany means he stuck with a back four.

I;d agree, and furthermore I also think that it is part of his plan to make us more unpredictable / flexible in general. One of the reasons we have struggled (relatively speaking) since December in my opinion is that teams know the shape we will line up with and, critically, where our wide players will go. I think Pep has mentioned this to the team and that is why we see Sane coming inside and Bernardo outside, like last night.

A 3-5-2 gives us the chance to have two strikers on the field potentially, so does that mean Jesus and Sergio as strikers are not enough? Or do we push Silva, Kev or someone else higher up? Seems to me the aim of 3-5-2 would be to get more crosses in to the box, Walker and Mendy bombing on when we attack or breaking explosively fast on the counter, besides of course Laporte being good in the air and providing instant relief from long ball tactics (with the intelligence to guide it to another City shirt more often than not).

He also has a huge hoof on him too, so could be another Ederson style direct ball to Jesus or Sergio on the odd occasion against teams that are pushing on to us, like Liverpool did, and one on one you have to fancy the likes of our strikers against Lovern, Cahill, Gurner Jones etc..
