I was happy with Stones/Otamendi at the back. If its a 3 at the back system, I guess this makes total sense. Finding it a bit tough to digest benching one of Otters/Stones after the season they are having (though Stones hasn't come back very strong). Hopefully thats our CBs sorted for a long time, we have spent an insane amount on money on that back line. If Fred also signs, I think we might only see 2 signings in the summer (depending on Aguero's situation).

Likely because Guardiola blamed the Mendy injury on his inability to play Sergio & Jesus together. Saying he could play 3 at the back.

For the record, I think we play much better with a 4. 3 fit senior centre halves are certainly needed.

I agree. It is nice to have options but given that 95% of the Prem dont try to attack us, I dont think we need to play 3 CBs. If we did want to go down that road on a regular basis, we would need to buy at least one more top-class CB in addition to Laporte. You cant play 3 CBs every week, if you only have 3 (consistently fit/good) in the squad.

Pep would more than likely switch back to a four than risk chucking someone in there/signing another defender as cover, just for a few games. The length of Mendy's injury fucked everything up this season, so we had no choice.

Not going to lie I don't know much about this lad,but if Pep thinks he's class that's good enough for me. Has he any international caps?

Personally I don't think that was the case. We wanted him since last summer and were close to getting him this transfer window, but Alexis and his agent got greedy so we told them to F-off. It's clear he chose money over trophies, and I blame him considering he isn't getting any younger so he might aswell get a big pay check.

That's Damocles point. We could have paid Sanchez exactly what the rags did, or more, and he'd be a City player. The reason he isn't is because we chose not too, not because we could no longer afford the deal.
