Wasnt Otamendi the best centre half in Spain when we signed him? I really will wait for Laporte to perform before actually believing he is top class. After the Mangala and Otamendi debacles, I just cannot believe an centre half costing over 30m is a sure thing ever again.

Maybe not, but I'm confident that Laporte and Stones/Otamendi would be a formidable CB partnership.

Having 4 senior CB's and a young one in Denayer who really should be playing seems like absolute madness to me, it's far too much. We fuck about with chopping and changing too much already and we never get a settled partnership, so fuck knows how often we'd line up with the same pairing if we had 4 CB's all expecting to play. I'd hope we are only bringing in one, otherwise we really need to be getting rid of two from Kompany, Otamendi and Mangala, otherwise we're just vastly overstocked and will go back to a different pairing every bloody week and the shit that that brings.
Don't you trust pep's judgment on this?

If we sign him and Stones then both Otty and Mangala need to go. Kompany and Denny will be fine.
Not that I'd sign Stones, if only because we know Everton will end up screwing £60 mill out of us and I hate clubs taking the piss and us drinking it down.
As much as it hurts to say it, I would not be surprised one bit if Vinnie became an early Pep casualty. Cannot keep saying he will be fine indefinitely I'm afraid.

He did a few things at Bayern that he didn't do at Barca due to the demands of the BL. Maybe he'll do similar here as he can't change all the squad and will have to work with what he has to an extent.Pep has never had anyone play a NDJ type role, can't see him starting now.
