I've just watched this "Vs" video of Laporte against Villareal and I'm rather underwhelmed.
He appears to be playing on the left of a back 3, and his composure on the ball and decision making make Mangala look like Paulo Maldini.
I've never seen him play, so happy to hear from people have have watched him extensively, but he's not at all what I was expecting.
He was also 19 and Villarreal was a pretty decent side, that's from 2014.

There is another video of him against Athletico Madrid and he looks excellent in that video, strong, aggressive and determined.
I was just surprised by his lack of quality on the ball in that Villareal video. I assumed if Pep was after him that he's be really comfortable on the ball and look like a classy ball player. But he looks awkward and uncordinated on that video, and I wasn't expecting that at all, even if he was young.
Can you really though? You might be able create a vine of all the good stuff Kolarov has done but that's about it...and I can show you a clip that makes Kolarov look unplayable. Nothing against Laporte, but if scouting players' potential and ability ever became reliant on a few minutes of 'youtube' video...

They are losing like 3 or 4 players with two defenders plus Mascherano..they need and want more defenders. Certainly younger ones.
They have just signed a centre back and if I'm not mistaken didn't they sign a right back last summer( although he could only play from January)

Any reach why we havent activated his release clause yet?...think it strange....the longer it goes on the more likely other teams show interest. I've even read his current team would like to re-do his current deal to increase the release clause in his contract......Txiki just pay the man!!; )

It would be better for us for Bilbao to accept a fee voluntary without forcing their hand with the release clause.
