He's been with them since he was 16 and Bilbao are seen as the pinnacle of the sporting world for a lot of basques so I wouldn't be surprised if he's a fan even if he was born and raised in France
Is this guy really worth the money? Real question, cause i've never seen him play (other than Youtube)Want this lad so badly!

I'm going with Thursday as Laporte day.
I thought this one was in the bag?

While I sort of agree with your sentiment with Güdogan, his situation was a bit different. BVB and their fans had been waiting and waiting for him to sort his situation out for a while now. The injuries and the emergence of Julian Weigl made it a bit easier to let him go. As for Güdogan who had 1 year left and still hadn't committed to a long term deal when he saw us/Pep he took his one shot, while keeping his promise of not leaving on a free like the last few. They signed him, didn't they? Could you class him as a Basque? And these reports have been going on for a while.
I see someone like Gundogan and that's the sort of attitude I want to see; seems genuinely excited joining us and working with Pep. Why wouldn't Laporte jump at the chance to be a key player for one of the best teams on the globe playing under the best coach on the planet? We're one of the most desirable clubs to join in the world, if you're not jumping at that opportunity it's only you that's missing out.
Why would I need to do that llandegren? You should ask yourself that, mate.

2 of his 8 great grandparents are Basque. Raised in Agen, Lot-et-Garonne, Aquitaine - not many Basques live there. He's been with them since he was 16 and Bilbao are seen as the pinnacle of the sporting world for a lot of basques so I wouldn't be surprised if he's a fan even if he was born and raised in France

So he is Basque in a qualified to play for Ireland sort of way.
