Saudis about to sign 29 yo Mitrovic from Fulham 45m pounds.
Fabinho at 29 was 40m.
Laporte at 29 based on various reports 16m or 25m.

makes total sense.
Think the difference is that Mitrovic and Fabinho were still wanted by their clubs whereas Laporte was clearly surplus to requirements here. He probably did not want to sign for a midtable English club and the big foreign clubs who can afford the bigger fees didn't want him.

First Saudi value signing of the summer. Piss take
I wouldn't say the first:
Saint-Maximin - £23m
Kessié - £10m
Brozović - £15m
Milinković-Savić - £34m
Alex Telles - £4m (on second thought that one might be a rip off)
plus Benzema, Kanté, Dembélé, Denayer and a host of others on free transfers.

We don’t screw over players who have gave a lot to us. It’s more money in the pot and wages off the books. Maguire was going to another English club and cost more than Laporte.

Don’t know why people need to get angry with fees. City don’t seem to bothered.
Good point. His contribution is huge and I think the Club will facilitate a smooth transition but really disappointed he is leaving.

Disappointment is good feeling on this occasion. I was gutted when Gundo left. It means the transfer has worked out in spades. Put it this way I won’t shed a tear when Cancelo goes.

The academy is making good money and the fee for Laporte will keep us in the black and allow us to spend on new players. Such a well run club. Compared to so many it’s some achievement.

I like Cancelo but clearly something happened whatever that was. Better they go for nothing than there be issues. There is a bigger picture now after the treble.

How many 29 year old centre backs have ever been sold for £60m?

Good question that.

Not an answer, admittedly. But a 32 year old Koulibaly, also surplus to requirements, was bought by al Hilal for 23m just earlier this summer. Laporte is the better player, higher profile having won more and being a current Spain regular, and 3 years younger. So if Nassr pull it off at that price, they are certainly getting a bargain.

There wasn't a huge demand for Laporte. It's as simple as that. The club is in no position to ask for more given that we are clearly willing to sell. Same as Cancelo...
A voice of reason.
We didn't feel a requirement to keep hold of Eric, but suspect we wouldn't have sold to a PL club likely to finish top 4. The lads a CB so not likely to command the fees of others going out there. We move on

One of those players who gets better every time he doesn’t play.

Was a very good player who ultimately lost his place because of too many unforced fuck-ups.

Not that surprised he is struggling to find a taker, he’ll be on great money and there are very few clubs these days who can pay a decent fee, his wages.

And he did not go. He’s still there, that’s adding the English player tax taking him up to 30m

If Eric was £30mill he’d go to a PL club. Either City won’t sell him to another PL club, he doesn’t want to stay and play in the PL, or for some reason their isn’t a PL club willing to pay £30mill for Eric, which I don’t believe. At £30mill Eric would have been signed by another PL ages ago. Maguire hasn’t been sold for £30mill because he is shit!
