Who leaves then? Akanji?

Wonder how many people would take that?

Comes under a lot of fire if he is a Cb pairing without a Dias or stones. Plays quite well at Rb tho.

Laporte has been looking out for a few years.
It's only a feeling i have and based on nothing but my own thoughts but i don't think Akanji will have another season like last season.
I sincerely hope i am proved wrong

To be fair to him, being a key player in a treble winning side is a hell of a difficult benchmark to meet as a £15m, fifth choice player!

Akanji’s best attribute is one thing that we are not blessed with at the back, other than with Walker and that’s pace.

just another example of the defenders market in terms of prices, no idea who is this Tavares but I bet he is levels worse defender than Laporte.

Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares is the target of a £30m bid from Nottingham Forest.(Source: @MirrorSport)

Probably on a low wedge tho.

Not a massive transfer follower so forgive me if I’m missing something obvious but Can’t understand why no one in the prem is in for him. Spurs, West Ham, Villa, Liverpool all need a CB. Must be his wages are too high…

I think the first three have all approached us for him but he rejected them and there's no way we'd sell to Liverpool.

He's a top player and probably wouldn't want to play for spurs, West Ham, villa etc.
And there's no way we would see to a rival (or liverpool).

Who wants him for 16 million, fucking Dick Turpin?
We must be incredibly confident in our system these days to be able to be so expedient.

I don't believe we'd do this unless we were.

But doing so now is a whole different ball game now from when we used to do so because we 'had to'. It's all about long term strengthening of the club's future transfer dealings when players see that we play ball in a very fair manner - assuming they do too.
(And Laporte has more than repaid our investment plus seemingly maintained a good approach to wanting away for his next challenge.)

I’d be sorry to see Eric go, he’d walk into any other side in the PL and most in Europe but Gvardiol is probably an upgrade on him so it makes sense to sell him.

I doubt we’d allow them to buy him but he’d be absolutely perfect for Newcastle as they make the step to being genuine contenders. For his sake I hope he gets a move like that rather than ending up just going thru the motions for the money in Saudi Arabia.
