To be fair, we thought this last season and it ended up doing the exact opposite.

Walker, Stones, Dias, Ake
Lewis, Akanji, Gvardiol, Gomez

Just as strong as the options we had last season, if not stronger if you consider Lewis' development and Gvardiol coming in for Laporte.
We were very lucky last season with so many games, to have so few injuries at the business end. Zero injuries prior to the finals!

Looking at our typical injury record over history and that of other clubs at the same stage of the season that's incredibly rare.

Although we have elite support systems and management we can't assume we're going to get that again, with potentially more games!

Great bit of business for us because he won’t quite make first team for us and I bet we got a substantial fee.

Overall it feels like a bit of a shame really though because outside of us he’s capable of playing at the highest level and potentially is still a top ten centre back in the world. Amazed really he didn’t push to go to somewhere like Barca or Madrid.

He must be earning a boatload of money there if he is entertaining the thought of going to Saudi. I wonder what prevented the London clubs from getting him? Probably a combination of Laporte wanting out of the PL, City not willing to transfer to a PL rival and not meeting the valuation set.
